I used to be a regular here. The woman on the door is awful. She turned us away. Probably because of my accent. Nasty piece of work. She needs to grow up. My friends were allowed in before me and they were very drunk. Turned us away and we were fine in comparison. She is very rude. Get rid of her. She is nasty and had no manners. We have been in before and the staff were amazing. She's a blonde entitled woman.

Nice ambiance. Great music abd nice crowd. Sadly only one draught beer on tap during our visit and that was Tennants!! Enjoyable evening but poor beer selection.

As an American, don't go here. Much better options in Glasgow. The bouncer was immediately offended when I walked up and respectfully referred to them as ma'am--a natural inclination from one who grew up with military parents. Also, as someone whose LGBTQ+ and very aware of pronouns, I didn't mean it in any sign of disrespect, but they made it clear that they were immediately annoyed. So much so that a Scottish girl chimed in in my defense and said, "I don't think they meant anything, I think that's a natural American sign of respect." Second, they seemed to think my $100+ green tweed pants were sweatpants--so I was denied entry. If I can recommend, go to Wunderbar. So much of a better time. No problem letting my friend and I in, and we danced to ABBA until the early morning, meeting kind people along the way. Ditch Polo Lounge, go to Wunderbar. Polo - you have a problem with this bouncer. To think you could be collecting so much more of peoples' money, yet you employ this person. Good luck lol.

So...I am normally very picky with club night outs but, everyone had said its such a good night out and it's a MUST in Glasgow. First of all, I appreciated the half price off. PR lady at the door did solid work. The staff was all lovely. There was even a surprise performer who did a great job at engaging the crowd. However, that wasn't enough to save the night. Dear DJs, please, have you heard of mixing? Everytime I thought it was getting better, it wasn't. The songs, were the exact length the artist made them. No cutting, no remixing, even when it was remixed it was still the WHOLE song. I didn't come to the club to do a sing along. The blue light room tried to suffocate my asthmatic friend. Please reduce the frequency in which you spray the smoke at people. I wanted to enjoy this night out but it was subpar at best. Will I be back? Unlikely, unless it's free and I'm guaranteed there will be other djs. Maybe it just wasn't my night, but the 7 other people I was with echo my sentiments

I see from other reviews the same particular rude female bouncer working here between 2100-2300 on 17/02/23 with shave sides continues to deny people at her leisure. She denied me and two friends entry for no apparent reason. After being recommended from friend’s in Speakeasy to visit Polo lounge; we were looking forward to enjoy ourselves in an LGBT safe environment only to turned away. We felt disregarded from our own community. This is not an inclusive venue and should be ashamed.

Thomas at the Polo Lounge was extremely helpful to me. I had left my bag in the venue after a night out and Thomas helped me to courier it back to my address in Manchester. Can't thank him enough. The lounge singer was great and there is a bouncing dance area downstairs. Would recommend!

Having been to Polo many times in the past, refused entry because we gave the wrong vibe. Firstly as a gay guy I find that horrific being told "I look too straight" and secondly having a friend who is new to the gay scene and was a bit scared of his first night being told not tonight as he gave the door staff a vibe. Whilst I absolutely accept we need to protect safe spaces the door staff need to be aware that not everyone "looks" gay (what ever that means) and secondly what a way to scare people new to the community. Shameful. Would expect this from door staff of other venues but not a well know and previous well respected LGBTQ bar.

The review is based on my visit to document polo. I neither went in or spoke to any employees. But the building is beautifully lit up

My group already knew polo have a bad reputation for knocking back people with no justification, but until last night I hadn't had a problem getting in. We all only had a couple drinks, were very sober, and it was quite early. The female bouncer with the shaved haircut was rude, gave no reasons at first and when I asked her more directly she was just telling us to go away, and insinuating we'd drank too much. I work in a role where I regularly have to refuse overly drunk people, and know that there was absolutely nothing wrong with our group. You say the door policy is tight but I think from the amount of shared experiences it is just discriminatory and making a safe space inaccessible to the people it is meant to be for.
