It's a nice looking cafe, the coffee was good, the staff were friendly and kept apologising for how busy it was. Really enjoyed going there and would come back. It now seems we are also going to buy a lamp which was not something I planned when I came in.
Service not good. Inflexible when they could not provide exactly what I wanted, even when alternatives were available. Then a hint of anger when I made polite suggestions for other options for which I was prepared to pay extra. Shades of Basil Fawlty. No wonder we go to Amazon. [ Two days later, this still angers me. The perfect birthday present in the shop window. But they have a slightly different item for sale at the counter, only it's just not quite right. It's the simplest thing to swap. AND I offer to pay more. Obstinate refusal, bordering on anger. We're always told to patronise local stores as they are struggling. I'm sorry, CUSTOMERS JUST WON'T. With service like this. we'll go to Amazon. ]
The Bristol Guild Café is currently closed - undergoing refurbishment It says it is scheduled to open in Autumn 2022 - but was closed on 24th October and there was still work going on. I am eagerly awaiting its reopening as it used to be a great place for coffee and to meet friends.
