A really lovely place to eat. However, on Sunday they ran out of cooked food by about 3:00 p.m. Which I suppose is okay but I really wanted my fish and chips..... On the other hand, the cakes are magnificent!
Came in for breakfast recently and was so disappointed. There were plenty of staff but the relatively short queue took forever to move, even though the hot breakfast food is all pre cooked and in the hot cabinet. After our 20 minute wait (literally 5 people in front of us) we came away with average sausage butties and possibly the worst cappuccino and hot chocolate we have ever tasted in our lives. In this day and age John Lewis can't even serve up a good hot drink? Pathetic, avoid.
Seems like it’s reasonably priced and the food looks alright, although I can’t comment because I’m still in the queue, after 20 minutes. I wouldn’t mind if it felt like the staff had any sense of urgency, but it’s pretty painful. Update: Got to the front eventually and they didn’t have anything left that I wanted. Maybe put a sign up so you don’t waste everyone’s time? Manager need to have a good hard think…
Quite Saturday breakfast thought it would be a nice treat, I ordered 1 full breakfast and a child breakfast, a apple juice and a black coffee. Came to £21 and sum pennies, looked nice enough but that's as good as it got, coffee awuf, bacon tested off, hash brown plan, grilled tomatoes raw and too top it all off every piece of cutlery I collected from the station was dirty with old food on them. Manage to find some that I could just wipe clean with the napkins. Overall would of been better off going the farm house down the road and getting the breakfast buffet. Excepted better quality from here.
Come on John Lewis, you can do better. All the tables on our arrival had dirty trays and pots on them and a few were occupied by customers. This would be acceptable if it was busy just before we arrived, however after 25 minutes only one table in the area had been cleared and many customers had needed to clear their table to eat. Only one person clearing but lots of staff standing around.
Delicious cake and coffee, gent serving us was really friendly and welcoming. The only thing that’s put me off were extremely dusty air vents right above the table - perhaps something for the management to take note of
Great place to catch a light bite whilst shopping. Serves hot and cold snacks, soups, toasties, salads, sandwiches and pennies. Good selection of hot and cold drinks plus cake. More choice of cake in Ori Cafe in basement.
This is hidden gem well frequented by regular shoppers. They split the serving areas in to savory snacks and hot food. I am mobility impaired and was offered a tray carting service. Good choice of hot food and veggie options. I had the ham hock pie with mashed potatoes, minted peas and an unctuous gravy. Great coffee set me up for some shopping. The staff are friendly and guick service.
