Staff is ill mannered and don't know how to greet, smile back or even say goodbye. I chose not to make a transaction, it was my first time in a pawnbrokers, said "thank you for your time" and basically got ghosted to my face. Awful experience.

Went into the store to ask the age of a used Rolex watch that was on display in the window- the lady serving asked for ID first of all- but I believe she misunderstood, she thought I wanted it out to view. Odd process, but if that’s the way they do it, fine. I reconfirmed all I wanted to know at this stage was the age, I didn’t want to see to see it out. Suddenly from the behind the scenes 2 male members of staff appeared, making their presence felt, it was quite clear I didn’t look like I could be trusted. I was dressed down as it was a day off, but not dressed like I’d slept on the pavement the night before! Obviously I got judged. I could understand if I was a young boy from an out of town housing scheme with trackies and baseball cap on, piling into a high value store with my mates- they can look intimidating. This is not the look I go for! The watch is in the display window behind a locked cabinet and then a behind a locked door, the watch was remaining in the window. Why this approach was required I do not know. I am fully aware of security risks with high value items, I’ve worked in new Rolex and jewellery sales previously and have my name down for a new model with a local jeweller in Edinburgh which will hopefully arrive one day. This used example looked a good option and I would have considered a purchase. But if making people feel like they can’t be trusted and calling in for additional staff back up for no reason at all is your approach for sales, then you’ve succeeded in making a potential customer feel like a piece of shit. I’m a 40 year old man, having worked in customer service and sales all my working life, am lucky enough to have the ability to make this kind of purchase if I like a product. Never have I been made to feel so 2nd class citizen in a store before. I’ve shopped in many other high end establishments (which this store is not) and been made to feel welcome, that I’m not a threat, and I’ve been happy to give them my business. This shop I would not give a penny based on this experience. If this is how you treat potential customers, you won’t be in business for much longer.
