We came for dinner for the first time last night, lovely warm welcome from the landlord, very friendly service! We sat by the cozy fire, played cards, and enjoyed fresh wholesome food. Steak was huge! And juicy! Cheddar cheese burger was homemade, served with chips and coleslaw. Loved it! We will be coming back. Highly recommend The Prince's Motto!

The warmest of welcomes today, my first visit. Landlord so easy to talk to and find out more about this very very traditional english country pub. Food still being served at 15:00 hours Sunday. Menu was basic wholesome food, unfussy but sure to satisfy who like pub grub. Does a good trade from locals and passers-by. A few real ales, three thatchers, two lagers all on draught and guinness. Small, cosy, chatty. Glad we tried this one. The landlord is especially friendly. I sometimes find small pubs a little intimidating but we were offered a table from one of the locals and loved the local atmosphere. Meals and desserts generally range from £5 to £14.

We had another visit today (26/10/23). It’s good that the pub has reopened with a new very friendly landlord. The menu is quite small but the food and drinks were good. Well worth a visit Previous visit spring 2023 We visited on a Thursday lunch time to find new owners who had recently taken over the pub. Both were very friendly. It’s a small menu with a few specials but the food is good and most is either gluten free or low gluten. The lamb cutlets were delicious as were the home made puddings. It’s not far from Bristol, in a good place for interesting walks and has ample parking.

Under new ownership and serving traditional, home cooked pub grub alongside an amazing (also home cooked) tapas specials selection. The tapas is excellent, tasty, fairly portioned and appropriately prices. Worth the trek out of Bristol, and close to some beautiful walks around the reservoirs or through fields and forest. Will allow parking provided you use the pub either before or after setting off. Lovely two landlords who are keen to cater for your every wish and desire. One of very few gems of this sort left in England - support them, or you will lose them!

A really lovely county pub, perfect for stopping on the way to airport. The owners are extremely welcoming and very accommodating and we were very grateful to them for making us food when we stopped late in the evening. Would highly recommend and will go back.

Great pub with a good selection of ales and really nice food at very affordable prices. The outside seating areas are what really makes the place though. You can sit in the garden with various gazebos, under the covered area with comfy sofas, blankets and woodburner or in the completely enclosed and glassed roof area. Whatever the weather you are catered for. They also have a lovely little village shop which sells the daily essentials plus coffees and a selection of locally made pastries (I can recommend the almond croissants) as well as locally produced, beautiful charcuterie. Super staff, great ambience and food. What more could you want from a pub? Highly recommended.
