    They do not work in the best interests of their clients. If you have any complaints about their manner or their work, despite saying there’s an escalation process, they just stop taking your calls and say you’re harassing them or are being abusive. Thankfully we found this out early enough in the process and found a much better solicitor who has given us no grief whatsoever and has listened to our concerns and our wishes and acted accordingly. Move on after the first hint of their attitude. There’s plenty of good solicitors out there who are polite, respectful and remember they’re working for you, not you for them.

    Received the keys for our new home today- happy with the service received from McGregor Macleod. Jaspreet was great, answered all questions I had promptly and comprehensively. They charged me exactly what I was initially quoted. I got quotes from about 15 solicitors in the area and this was by far the best value for money.

    Had a very disappointing experience. Initially, I was provided with a fee estimate of £1186. However, upon receiving the final bill, I was shocked to see that the fees had tripled to £3880. When I contacted them to clarify this significant discrepancy, I received this reply: "We provided you with a fee estimate at the outset and cannot determine at the outset what fees will be incurred until the transaction actually begins/progresses. The fees are per our Terms of business ." I felt completely misled by their initial estimate and received no useful advice or transparency regarding the additional charges. A nearly threefold increase without prior notice or detailed explanation is unacceptable. Recommendation: Avoid this company. They are not clear with their fees and do not provide good advice when purchasing a property.

    Despite only being allowed to charge £50 + VAT for Help to Buy ISA bonus application work as per the schemes rules they attempted to charge £150 for using a HtB ISA. When asked why there fee is £90 (150%) higher than allowed they simply stated the fee limit is only for bonus application work and refused to provide any information as to what this extra £90 charge is actually for. Sometime after declining my complaint about this and without ever acknowledging they were wrong or apologising for there attempt to overcharge the director stated they would change the fee to £50 + VAT. So unless you like to be overcharged and lied to they are definitely a firm to avoid. The response from the owner is a blatant lie and further evidence that this is a firm to avoid.
