Fantastic experience with Lorainne at Chisolm Hunter. I was looking for diamond earrings but wasn’t sure on a style and she was patient and extremely helpful. She showed me a variety of styles and made various recommendations. Also offered me a glass of bubbly whilst I was looking. All in all a lovely shopping experience and fantastic customer service.

I am extremely disappointed with the service I’ve received from this shop. When I first collected my engagement ring, they made a mistake that ended up delaying my engagement. As an apology, they promised to provide a voucher for me and my partner to use at any restaurant of our choice. That was back in October 2024!! Since then, I have gone into the shop five or six times, as well as phoned and messaged repeatedly, asking about the voucher I was promised. Every single time, they take my details again, tell me it will be sorted, and assure me they’ll contact me the next day. They never do. I still haven’t received anything. The lack of communication and follow through has been incredibly frustrating and honestly shocking. The original mistake was bad enough, but the way this situation has been handled feels careless and dismissive. At this point, it seems like they’ve made promises they have no intention of keeping. I would strongly advise others to be cautious and consider this experience before choosing to purchase from here.

After only a year, one of the diamonds in my wife’s wedding ring (bought here) fell out. We took it back, unhappy that such a fault had happened so soon, but were told the only option was to send it to the jeweller for assessment. Weeks later, we were told it was “impact damage” and would cost £250 to fix — despite us knowing no such damage had occurred. When the ring came back, the diamond was blackened. We returned it immediately and were told it was a burn mark from when it was resized the year before — something we’d never been informed of and certainly wasn’t visible when she had been wearing it for a year. No clear explanation was given. After months of back-and-forth, we finally went to collect the ring and speak to the manager. This was by far the most defensive and condescending interaction I’ve experienced in retail. We were accused of damaging the ring, of trying to harm a family business, and were repeatedly told we “should have known” things — only for the manager to later admit her staff were not properly trained and hadn’t told us those things. We’ve been loyal customers for years, spending thousands here, but this 3-month ordeal and the way we were treated by said manager has ended that. We will not be returning.

We visited Chisholm Hunter at The Gyle Shopping Centre, Edinburgh in June to look for something special for our Golden Wedding Anniversary. At the time we did not know what, but on looking in the window displays we saw a nice little diamond ring. We went in and were met by Alina, a lovely person to talk too. She assisted by showing us a few different rings and we eventually picked the one in picture attached for my wife. Unfortunately the size was wrong , but Alina suggested getting one made like it, so went for this option and 8 weeks later we were told it was ready for collection. When we picked the ring for my wife, Alina asked if I was getting one too, at first having never thought about it , I decided that might be a nice thing to do. Just like exchanging Wedding rings again but 50 years on. Alina suggested a few and asked if I would like to try on a Celtic style ring, low and behold it was perfect, so again as the size was not in stock it was ordered again. Today we went and collected the rings, and Alina was there to greet us , they both fitted perfectly, look amazing and we are delighted with our rings. Can we say Alina was perfect in the way she looked after us and kept in touch with us. She was kind, very helpful, courteous and professional in her sales approach. She spent a lot of time explaining in detail information about different types of rings and how look after them. She is a lovely person to talk too and is a real asset to Chisholm Hunter and we wish her every success in the future.

Today was my first purchase of a branded luxury watch. I originally set out to buy a gold chain but while browsing I happened upon two gorgeous tissot watches. I was greeted by a warm young lady by the name of Ciara who let me try on the chain at first and the two watches. She was not pushy in any way but was very knowledgeable, and honest in her opinions. Once I decided on the time piece my heart was set on her excellence in customer service did not stop there. Fantastic service. If I am to purchase another watch or jewellery I know exactly where to come again.

I went to the Gyle branch today with my husband and cannot fault the service. Whilst looking in the window Gareth came out to see if we were ok, I explained that I was looking for a new wedding ring to replace one that had been lost many years ago. Gareth listened to what I thought I wanted and then had Ciara help me look at a variety of rings that would sit with my eternity ring. The ring I chose is not what I had envisioned, but it is what I wanted (I just didn’t know it). It sits beautifully with my other ring and will arrive in time for an upcoming holiday. Ciara was patient whilst we waited for my husband to arrive with the eternity ring and then talked through the 2 different thickness of the ring I chose. Both Ciara and Gareth made sure we were happy with our choices and took the time to listen to me. Excellent service, would highly recommend this store.

Excellent service from Gareth and Ciara when I bought my watch. Ciara arranged for it to be sent from another branch and Gareth explained everything I needed to know about it. They were both very helpful and friendly. Thank you.

On the advice of 2 members of staff at this business I sent a watch for valuation with the view of selling it to them and charged £75 pounds. It was returned unvalued. The carraige cost them less than £13 (I saw the invoice). They have refused a refund nor have they replied to my email. It seems that more and more these days traders just ignore customers when it suits them.

I recently purchased a Seiko watch from Chisholm Hunter at the Gyle and the service I received from all the staff there was outstanding. Ciara was fantastic and helped me get the exact model that I wanted. It had to be ordered in and arrived sooner than expected. When collecting the item I enjoyed talking to Gareth the manager who is very knowledgable about watches. Overall the experience was excellent. Many thanks to Ciara, Gareth and the rest of the staff.
