I approached Ealing Law Centre twice β€” first on a friend’s recommendation, and again after my MP encouraged me to try once more for help with a serious housing and health-related issue. Despite clearly explaining the urgency of my situation and providing medical evidence from my GP, I received only a short, generic email reply with links to other websites instead of any meaningful follow-up or advice. Their website mentions translation support, but in reality there are no Cantonese-speaking staff. For people like me who face language barriers, this creates false hope and unnecessary disappointment. I understand the Centre is under great demand, but I genuinely hoped for a little more understanding and compassion. Sadly, I did not receive any assistance β€” though I still wish that other vulnerable residents can find the help they need. --- Update: After submitting their intake form (which specifically asks whether clients need an interpreter), I later received an email confirming that there are no Cantonese-speaking staff. The same reply also stated: > β€œI understand your case is urgent and that it can be both difficult and frustrating trying to find help, especially if English is not your first language.” Reading that line was disheartening. It seems to imply that people who are not native English speakers are somehow more difficult to help. For a legal organisation whose purpose is to support equality and vulnerable residents, this is an extremely disappointing attitude. Their website ask whether clients β€œneed an interpreter,” yet in practice there is no direct translation service available. This inconsistency feels misleading for residents who genuinely rely on language assistance to access justice. As a legal organisation, I find it deeply concerning that a staff member would make a remark suggesting my language background makes me β€œdifficult to help.” Such comments are inappropriate, unprofessional, and contrary to the very values of fairness and accessibility that a law centre should uphold.

It was great to be honest. I cannot fault anything. You have been so understanding and taken the time. And your care is definitely there.

I would like to thank Vicky Fewkes who took her time and listen to my problems, Ms Vicky Fewkes was very helpful, went above and beyond to advise me and direct me to the right direction. I’m so grateful for the help and support I’ve received, especially when we are going through something stressful and difficult times, there was no judgment, patience and simply empathy for a stranger in distress with health issues, I have difficulty to approach people , to ask for help and not knowing what to do whom to contact for advice. I’m grateful beyond words. Dear Ms Fewkes thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you have done for me. My best wishes and gratitude for your support.

I was informed by a Mental Health centre that a case of mine could be taken on by this Law Centre. I was informed that there was β€˜capacity.’ Then I called them upon the advice by the mental health case worker, and they said they had no capacity. I rang the mental health advisor back and said that there was no capacity. She said β€˜ok.’ I would have preferred Ealing Law Centre to have been more truthful.

Called this law centre 3 days ago. Lady said she will call me back. Never happened. Did the same 2 days ago. Same again. Today i called again. The gentleman said the solicitar is to busy to help and sign documents. When i asked if i can book an appointment he said no. Unacceptable service from a registered law centre!
