The Bonaly Country Park Loop is a beautiful 3h walk into Scotish landscapes, a bus drive away from Edinburgh. Most of the pathways are easy, but mind that near Harbour Hill tracks may not be visible due to boggy conditions. Either dare climb to the top (421m) or walk around it. Maps can be found on the Pentland Hills website: https://www.pentlandhills.org/downloads/download/1/pentland-hills-visitor-guide-and-map

A upland park on Edinburgh's outskirts featuring reservoirs, mixed woodland, and heather moorland. Well-maintained paths lead through areas of conservation-focused forestry and past the remains of old farmsteads. It is a popular and accessible area for hillwalking with consistent views toward the Pentland Hills.

Hidden gem, except to those in the know. From Bonaly, it's a stiff walking climb, that's it, mostly easy going after that. Going up don't look back, save that for the return journey.

Best place for a walk. Good landscape. Calm and quiet place with both city view and picturesque view. Good terrains. Need to see it in the heather next time.

Outstanding views and great walking/hiking trails. Also suitable for taking the dogs for a walk. Note: livestock are in certain areas so keep an eye out for the signage stating farmland animals grazing. Worth keeping your dog on lead at times.

A very pleasant and pretty much easy walk if you stay on main paths. If more adventous you can literally take to the hills. The views of Edinburgh, the forth and beyond are amazing. Areas include open countryside, woodland and walks along a couple of reservoirs.Fishing by permit is also available. Walkers, cyclists and dog walkers of all age groups were out and about when we were there. The is a cafe but open summer only. Car parking is free but donations are welcome to help maintain this beautiful countryside. There is even alpacas if you fancy seeing them up close, or even take them for a walk. All of this within easy reach of Edinburgh and surrounding areas. There is a bus stop opposite bonaly store if you want to travel by bus from city centre. LRT number 10. Destination Bonaly. Definitely worth a visit

Amazing relaxing walk trough the nature few miles far from Edinburgh. Easy to reach by car. Car park available with lot of spaces. Fantastic landscapes. The place is clean and very well maintained. Three wonderful reservoirs surrendered by wild woods. Ideal for a walk with children and dogs. No more than 1 hour to visit the whole park. Very nice experience. I recommend a visit here to enjoy the peace of the nature.

One of the best walking experiences within a short drive of the city. Really top class walk with good options if you have kids with bikes or mobility scooters/wheelchairs. There is an Upper carpark for a forest stroll. Lower car park for direct access to the road beside the resevoir. Fantastic scenery with some of the best views of Edinburgh and the Forth you could ask for. You'll get a bit of forest and a bit of rolling hills. Some steep bits if you go off the road. Seasonal Cafe at the foot of the second resevoir. Good for dogs but take care several sections are open to sheep grazing so keep them on a lead. You pick the walk, you can get a 40-60 minute walk in staying to the roads or a couple of hours if you are more adventurous.

First time visit ,Well laid out map of walks in the area with a good car park , I set off for Bonally Reservoir . A steady gradient it took me 50 mins but I am getting on in years easily done in 30 mins if fit . The reservoir is a high point for viewing Edinburgh and Fife and the Forth Bridges well worth the effort for the view alone There are one or two wild campers at the reservoir and it is well known for free fishing with perch pike and trout.
