I've really thought hard about what rating I should give Singleton Austin Ryder. I leave reviews to highlight the standard of customer service I have experienced and the quality of the service received. One star means it has been really poor. I would not recommend using these partners if you are considering appointing a legal firm as executor of your will. If you want your estate to be handled by an efficient, dynamic company, who wants to carry out your wishes as you would expect, I would go elsewhere. Singleton Austin Ryder are executors of my late father's estate. All of us (children and grandchild, as named beneficiaries), through different communications, have found them arrogant and disrespectful. Although they make an argument to justify their actions, or lack of actions, they work at an incredibly slow pace that suits them. There's a definite tone of condescending snobbery. I honestly think they totally forgot about the case for about 6 weeks and only picked it up when the family asked for an update. They have justified their snails paced progress to date with; asset searches taking in excess of a month instead of days, although all account details savings etc were supplied to them; they then had to obtain a Certificate of Indemnity, to protect their interest against obscure claims against my Father's estate...ok but he was in his 90s, owned no shares, had no business interest all of his life, no debts, retired for over a quarter of a century..really, is that a risky client?? Likely that a former business partner from the 1940s claim Dad owed him money?? Even if this ultra cautious approach was the norm, wouldn't that be a pretty quick thing to obtain? They haven't resorted to placing an advert in the London Gazette to ask London's millions whether Dad owed them a shilling, but no surprise if it comes. Perhaps writing it with a quill pen on parchment, sending it via a hired carrier pigeon. Or hiring a town crier to stand on Hyde Park Corner. "Is anyone owed money?" As a family "unanimous seething" sums the mood at present. Last, but not least, Singleton Austin Ryder, were not aware that it was the responsibility of the executor of the will to sell the family home. Apparently anyone can sell it according to them and send them the cash! Really? How can somebody sell a house they do not own? Yes, I have this communication, lately claimed to be a "misunderstanding" This legal knowledge is the equivalent of a doctor in medicine not knowing where a human heart is located. I have lost all confidence in this partnership. I cannot bring myself to believe anything they say and do not expect a good outcome from their handling of Dad's estate. A similar review by another customer has been left on another review platform. I really don't think they care. They'll get a Rodney, or two, to leave a few reviews to balance out their ratings. I'm done with them. I'll wait for the diluted cheque to fall through the letterbox in 2027 or 2028...

From my personal experience - I was about to instruct Danielle Wright for my elderly mother’s will, I felt that the approach seemed defensive and not truly accommodating. It came across as more about when and where it suited her, rather than making it work for the client. Disappointing for a firm that presents itself as focusing on helping the elderly. β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” just saw the response below. (Update) The issue was not just availability. Ms Wright’s limited working pattern made it clear the focus was on her schedule rather than accommodating an elderly client. For a newly qualified solicitor charging the fees she does, a more flexible and client-focused approach should be the minimum standard. Hopefully in time she’ll learn to accommodate her clients as well as her own timetable. Thanks again!

We had the pleasure of Stephanie James being our conveyancer for a property purchase, she was readily available for any questions or queries we may have had and made the process feel seamless. There were however complications with the purchase beyond our control but acting in our best interest they were brought to are attention promptly, unfortunately these weren’t rectified and lead to us having to pull out of the deal. Having been incredibly impressed with the work ethic and professionalism of Stephanie, we have decided to use Singletons Austin Ryder again for our new property purchase.

Stephanie James displayed a complete lack of professionalism from the very first interaction with our solicitor. Her communication was consistently rude and obstructive, turning a standard transaction into a needlessly difficult and prolonged process. Ultimately resulting in the failure of the transaction. The experience was so poor that I would strongly advise anyone involved in a negotiation with this individual to reconsider their position immediately. We have reviewed your comments and would like to address a few points. It is interesting that you felt the need to clarify that we were not your client, as that was never in question. Noted you make no comment on your communication style. The "defect in the lease" is a matter of legal opinion and risk. We had offered a clear solution to the defect. Your version of the transaction is of your choosing and not my experience of it.

Avoid at all costs. We were given totally incorrect information by one of the partners regarding probate for our parents. My brother personally delivered the required paperwork which they initially denied receiving then acknowledged receiving. They didn’t do their job which was straightforward. They later supposedly reduced their bill and took money from the client account for doing absolutely nothing. When we instructed new solicitors they were appalled at both the incorrect legal advice we were given by Singletons and also the fact that they had done nothing for the money they took. The new solicitors had to start from scratch which meant we incurred interest on outstanding IHT due solely to Singletons. Having realised you were clearly out of your depth you should have told us instead of obstructing increased barristers at our cost. I challenged this decision with you at the time only to be told it was necessary. Now we know it was both ill advised and totally necessary. Rather than congratulating us on finding a solicitor to do the job you were engaged to do it is perfectly reasonable to request the return of the Β£5,000 you took from our client account in fees please so we can use that for the purpose it was intended, probate, a simple task you barely started let alone completed. I look forward to your response.

Thank you Steph James for being so supportive throughout my 1st property purchase. Steph made sure no stone went unturned, ensuring I also had everything I needed and didn’t face further issues if I were to sell the property in the future. Very responsive and handled all enquiries in a professional and efficient manner. I was so well looked after, that I have agreed to also use the same firm for commercial matters and will continue to do so when needed. I cannot recommend Singleton Austin Ryder Solicitors enough.

Chris was an amazing solicitor and we had a wonderful experience working with him during the purchase of our flat, he answered all our questions, sometimes within minutes, we knew exactly where we were at every stage of the process. Will be and would highly recommend to anyone

Spoke with a very unhelpful receptionist who could not assist at all with my request and then proceeded to hang up on me.

Purchased my first property with the help of Stephanie - who was amazing. Stephanie was always contactable and answered all my questions promptly. It was a complicated matter and she managed to complete quickly and correctly. I would most certainly recommend Singeltons Austin Ryder and will definitely be back for future Conveyancing matters!
