    Laminate Flooring Not Fit for Purpose & Poor Customer Service I purchased laminate flooring from the Wickes store in Chippenham and experienced problems almost immediately. From the outset, everything was done correctly: we purchased the correct underlay for our subfloor as specified in the instruction leaflet and followed all installation guidelines precisely. The flooring was an easy-click system, installed without force, with adequate expansion gaps around the edges, and the boards were properly staggered. Prior to installation, the flooring was left to acclimatise in the room for three weeks. Despite this, serious issues developed soon after installation. Gaps began appearing, there was movement at almost every joint, and the surface became uneven, with boards sitting higher than adjacent ones. Walking on it barefoot was uncomfortable and unsafe, as the raised edges felt sharp. The entire floor also creaked constantly, sounding like thin ice underfoot. This flooring was clearly not fit for purpose. I raised a complaint with Wickes Chippenham within 30 days of purchase, but was repeatedly told to contact the manufacturer. I explained that under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, my contract is with the retailer β€” not the manufacturer β€” yet the store continued to refuse responsibility. After three months of back-and-forth emails, Wickes still insisted the issue was my fault. Their customer service was extremely poor, and I was left with no choice but to cut my losses, rip the flooring up, and replace it with carpet. If you experience a problem with a product from this store, be prepared for a long and frustrating process. They will do everything possible to fob you off and avoid taking responsibility. Update regarding ongoing issues with laminate flooring purchased from Wickes Chippenham. It is notable that Wickes responded publicly within hours of my review being posted; unfortunately, this level of responsiveness was not shown when handling my complaint directly. Over a period of three months, I experienced repeated delays and back-and-forth communication, ultimately being told that the issue was deemed my fault. This is disappointing and reflects poorly on customer service standards. If Wickes wishes to resolve this matter appropriately, I believe a refund of Β£300, along with compensation for the time, stress, and inconvenience caused, would be a fair outcome.

    A large order from Wickes failed because Wincanton driver was ill, but we were never told. The redelivery never happened, no follow-up, call, or text. Even Wickes don't know what happened

    Staff are rude and incompetent. While looking at paint I was practically knocked over by a member of staff to busy chatting to her colleague to even see me. No apology, no excuse me just a glare and a grunt from them. Smaller wicks with limited range.

    The two children in the store don't know a thing about building materials or where anything was located in the store. The dim vacant expressions when you ask any question is infuriating as they very slowly do not much. The young lady however was an absolute diamond, instantly helpful with a great attitude. 5* for her 1 less for each lackey

    Always out of stock on certain products. Shop elsewhere, where the staff no where items are, and also in stock. Don’t waste your time here.

    Visited Wickes in Chippenham to try and workout what items I needed for a plumbing project; the member of staff (Kevin) was very helpful, giving me options and technical advice. With his help, I was able to come up with a viable solution (using several items that they had in stock), that I'll buy from Wickes (as they are reasonably priced) once my good lady has given me the go ahead.
