SCAM - Unfair Parking Charge – Genuine Customer Penalised I visited Masala Bazaar – Stapleton Road, Bristol, with a colleague after work to shop for groceries. We spent over Β£35 in-store, yet I received a Β£60 parking charge (reduced from Β£100) simply for parking while shopping. Apparently, customers are expected to β€œobtain authorisation at the till,” but at no point during our visitβ€”or previous visitsβ€”were we informed of this requirement. The signage is not clearly visible or explained, and the penalty notice arrived in plain packaging, which seems designed to be overlooked so the appeal window can expire. I returned to the store on foot to speak with the manager and was told, quite abruptly, that the manager was unavailable. This experience was deeply disappointing. Penalising genuine customers without clear instructions feels exploitative. There are many other food stores nearby offering similar products without this kind of treatment. I will not be returning, and I urge others to be cautious when parking here.

Masaala Bazaar’s got a great range of spices, snacks, and fresh ingredients β€” proper spot if you cook a lot at home. Prices are reasonable and the staff are friendly and helpful.

It was a big Indian grocery store in Bristol with lot of items. I could get Tamarind paste, which I was looking for. During afternoon, it was not so crowded. During check out the payment machine didn't work, so it some time to use another one there. If you going with your car, you need to register in the shop, otherwise you are in trouble.

Took a colleague to shop there after work. Cost me Β£60 ("reduced from Β£100") parking fee. Apparently their "obvious signage" (see photo) warns you of this, you're supposed to "obtain authorisation at the till". Have shopped there with same colleague before, absolutely no mention of this at the till. Went (on foot!) to ask manager about it. Was rudely and abruptly told that manager was not available. I would avoid this store, I'm certainly not going to shop there again, there are plenty of better food stores selling the same range of goods in the close vicinity. It appears to have become yet another business that simply operates a car park as a private parking scam. (Parking charge is sent under nondescript cover, the latest wheeze by private parking companies who hope you'll miss it and pass the discount and appeal dates so they can jack the already utterly unconscionable price of their "charge" even further.) Β£60 for 20 minutes parking. Avoid.

Masala Bazaar is a fantastic spot for Bengali cuisine enthusiasts, offering a wide range of authentic Bengali food products. Their fresh halal meat selection from the butchers is top-notch, ensuring quality and freshness for customers. Additionally, their selection of rice brands at fair prices makes it convenient for shoppers to find their preferred choice. The option to have whole fish prepared by the butchers adds to the convenience and freshness of the shopping experience. While the free parking is a bonus, customers need to use a tablet (see photo below) at checkout to register their car for parking validation. However, the outdated fixtures and the lingering odd smell are areas for improvement that could enhance the overall ambiance of the store.

Customer service is awful. Very impolite and unhelpful. Especially those who work on the shop floor. Never assist a customer; if you enquire, they will disregard you and give you a really harsh response. I would never recommend shopping there to anyone.

I am regular customer there only on the 6th of November my husband forgot to register our car. Got the ticket on the 15th received the Ticket to pay 60Β£ went in the next day to masala Bazaar the guy at the counter said they will take care of it as you are our regular customer. We came back home satisfied that the ticket would be resolved only to know that just yesterday received another ticket of the same incident that now you have to pay 100Β£. Went there again one of the guy took the ticket from us and told us this would be now resolved I also took the video when I was handing over the ticket to the staff member. Could anyone please advise me should I trust them or pay the fine before it gets out of hand.? Thank you. Cause this makes me wonder if this could happen to regular customers who somehow on that particular day forgot to register their car at the till what would be point of going back to masala Bazaar again...!!! Hello, I have paid the fine now. I was a regular Customer for the past 5 years. And really never wanted to leave a review on Google, but had to do it because the ticket wasn't still canceled it was still active when I paid the fine. Had I known that, I would have paid 60Β£ instead of 100Β£ but I trusted the staff. Just 2 days ago my husband went in again driving all the way from Cribbs Causeway to have the ticket canceled. Anyhow with this being done now, I and my husband won't be coming back to Masala Bazaar anymore. For 100Β£ you have lost your customers. Thank you. .

...Still an absolute con! and still minus Β£140. Despite the reply below that they can help me resolve the parking fine because I legitimately used their car park only to be told that its out of their control and nothing to be done. "Sorry sir, its up to the car parking company and is out of our control" yet they "fail" to understand that they employed this system to begin with. Sure, it was passed the 28 days from PCN issue which means I cannot appeal, but working away 6 weeks at a time meant I had no chance of seeing this in time. Someone somewhere is making a killing by not providing an adequate system to input or record your registration number. Don't take my word for it, look at everyone else's reviews. Absolutely avoid this company! Any establishment which impose fines sneakily and illegitimately should not be supported. Its theft. However its your fault if your don't respond to the PCN in time, how ironic! ---------------------------------- Absolute con! Got charged Β£140 for using their car park as its unclear that my reg needed to be recorded, only time I went there and spent over Β£200 on goods. There are lots of signs (small text, unclear) but no computer to enter reg, unlike most legitimate establishments and no cashier ask for my registration number, like all other companies. Will not be shopping from this company again as they ruined my credit score. I am also sure there will be a reply to this review stating that its "well sign posted" but having a big parking 'P' at your front door and plain-text, A4 prints all over the wall still doesn't mean anything. Most establishments will have a touchscreen facing you as you enter the store/hotel/restaurant. If you (Masala Bazaar) want to help resolve this issue, with partial or full refund, then I am more than happy to provide my receipt and the review will be retracted. However, I very much doubt this will be the case.
