It’s disappointing to leave a negative review, especially after this jeweller came recommended by family. I brought my ring in to be resized and received it back with the shank left extremely thin — it had not been properly rebuilt, which is standard practice in professional resizing (after doing my own research). I have since had second and third opinions from other jewellers who agree it should have been rebuilt. Unfortunately, Mr McLaughlan refused to take accountability, instead blaming the issue on the fact that my ring was purchased from an independent jeweller rather than a high street retailer, which is irrelevant to the matter. Additionally, the hallmark was removed during the process and not restored. I had to point this out myself, and when I did, the response from staff was dismissive, treating it as an inconvenience and a cost to them. I found the overall attitude unwelcoming. When concerns were raised, staff became defensive, argumentative, and deflected responsibility rather than offering a solution. This was not the level of professionalism I expected, and I wouldn’t feel confident returning or recommending them based on this experience.
Took my engagement ring here to be resized and I couldn’t be happier. Its and Opal ring and needed to be reduced by 4 sizes, so not an easy job. My ring fits beautifully, and I couldn’t believe how reasonable the price the was. Thank you so much.
This is a great jewellery shop where I get great service. Recently got watch batteries and replacement watch strap..and alarm clock...can rely on McLauchlan's for most things.
Put two watches in for new batteries and a mechanism repair which was renewed. First class service and reasonably priced. First time used after recommendation. Defo go back when needed.
