I suspect that I have been subjected to racial discrimination. On November 17th, I went to Lidl to do some shopping. When I was leaving after finishing my purchase, the security guard stopped me without even considering the other customers. As a Chinese student studying abroad, it was hard for me not to feel discriminated against. I showed my payment record, but they didn't intend to let me leave until they found a staff member who showed the receipt and then I was allowed to leave.

Place is rammed. Stock isn't great. People fighting over items. If able to cycle/drive to a branch further out would recommend for a quieter and less aggressive shopping experience.

This Lidl is very busy , the staff are great given the difficult customers they have to deal with. I had a very helpful customer assistant the other day who helped with my shopping at the self checkout. The staff are always happy to help me find any items that I can’t find.

I went shopping at Lidl on Saturday, January 11, 2025, around 2:45 pm, and had a very disappointing experience. I used the self-checkout service, but unfortunately, the machine didn’t print my receipt. To ensure I had proof of my purchase, I took a photo of the screen showing the receipt details. As I exited the store, the alarm went off. There was another woman leaving at the same time, and the security checked her first but didn’t find anything. Then, the security approached me and checked my bag. I explained that the receipt hadn’t printed, showed them the photo I took, and even provided my Lloyds Bank transaction history, which matched the amount on the photo. After confirming this, the security let me go.While I was repacking my items near the entrance, the woman who had been checked earlier began shouting at me, accusing me of stealing and blaming me for the alarm. She insisted I go back inside the store and walk through the alarm again, loudly pointing at me. The situation escalated, with a crowd gathering around, yet none of the Lidl staff, especially the security guards, intervened to clarify the situation or defend me.As an Asian, female international student, I couldn’t help but feel this situation was handled poorly and unfairly, and I suspect there may have been a racial bias in the way it was managed. No one apologized to me for the embarrassment I experienced in public, nor did they explain to the crowd that I had not stolen anything.I’ve been a loyal customer at this Lidl since moving to Bristol over a year ago, but this experience has left me feeling unsafe and unwelcome. The mental distress and public shame I endured are unacceptable.I urge Lidl to review the CCTV footage from this incident, which occurred around 2:45 pm, and address this issue seriously. I was wearing blue jeans, a black puffer jacket, and a white beanie hat at the time. This situation not only reflects poor customer service but also highlights a lack of respect and accountability from Lidl staff toward customers.

Even though this time I went much later in the day and this branch is well used by students I found a good range of fruit and vegetables. The meat and cheese selection was still excellent also fish. Also agood selection of bread and buns.

Brilliant store, popped in the other day to grab some snacks for the cinema next door. Prices are great as usual, the queues were slightly longer than usual but that was more than made up for with the fantastic service from the staff. In particular, Lauren, who was very friendly and helpful when I needed help finding a couple items. Great store, convenient location, welcoming staff. 5 stars, would recommend.

I was in town because I happened to run out of my favourite tasty meat patties. Luckily for me, Lidl had top notch staff to help me on my journey. A lovely young lady named Lauren immediately assisted me in locating the scrumptious patties. As I was leaving the shop I noticed some more delightful delicacies at the bakery where an even more delightful young man named Harry clocked me on to a delectable focaccia pizza that would be sold to me by a gracious young William at the till. Meat patties AND pizza! What a splendid experience!

Lidls supermarket is nice, good size building and it seems to provide everything you need. I would like to say that the staff are helpful and the 2 times I have shopped there it was very busy but queue were move at a nice pace. But it was a good experience I have no complaints.
