A pleasant place to have a walk in summer or winter (or a short cycle). It's traffic-free so a good place to take younger children for learning to cycle on mostly good tarmac paths (though going all round the pond there is a section with board walkway, slippery in winter). Cyclists have to beware of loose dogs (and their even looser owners). Also there are some other connecting footpaths which are rougher, stony or with looser grit-surfaced parts. They are still easy to cycle on, just a little more care is needed. There is always a variety of waterfowl at the viewing platform, take some lettuce leaves and brown bread. I did see a water vole once, luckily; they are rare. Also one fox and one deer, briefly. There could be a greater diversity of trees - more mature broadleaf trees would make the reserve even better. But nature is gradually reclaiming the reserve. Some parts of the path have the views spoiled by the pylons and overhead cables. But I still go frequently. Go yourself and explore.

It is very peaceful here and I saw plenty of ducks, the weather is beautiful for September, better than the weather we had the whole of July and August.

Beautiful place with exception of some inconsiderate people throwing rubbish around instead of using bins amply provided . Also people please stop feeding ducks and swans bread I know you think your doing good but your ruining the water and altering it's ph . Seeds and nuts and oats are fine and much better for the animals and their natural habitat Have seen hawks and herons ,swans and ducks and Moor hens as well as deer .Great place to take kids to see wildlife and great wee walks within the reserve as well as many ways in and out of the area.

Such a lovely place for a walk, feeding the swans and the ducks. Venture further in and a tremendous walk awaits you. If your lucky you might even get a chance to see the deer and other wildlife. Glorious place to take your dog for a long or short walk.
