Absolutely stunning Garden and house just south of Glasgow. Lovely Cafe with an excellent Flat White.
Lovely woodland walks and a beautiful walled garden. The cafe is nice with indoor and outdoor seating. Lawn games for families.
Visited on a rainy day, so I didn’t get to enjoy the garden as much as I would have liked. I only stayed for a short while, but even in that time it was clear how beautifully looked-after the place is. Every part of the garden has its own character, with little details that catch your eye. There’s also a small café on site, which I didn’t get to try this time. I’d love to come back on a brighter day and take it all in properly. It’s a lovely spot.
Beautiful gardens behind a Georgian house. Entrance is via a drive off of Flanders Road (sign posted). The parking lots is small, might hold 30 cars at most. There is a woodland trail around the outside of the gardens which is free to walk. The property is owned by the National Trust for Scotland so access to the walled gardens is not free unless you are a NTS member. Entrance is via the cafe. There is an accessible entrance to the cafe around the side of the building. There are cobbles on the side of the building leading to the toilets and walled garden. Although the gardens are accessible some areas may be tricky if it’s rained due to muddy areas. The gardens are beautiful. Go in early spring to see the daffodils in full bloom! They are planting more bulbs this autumn (2025) so expect more blooms in the 250 yr anniversary hedges area in spring 2026
What a beautiful place the Walled Garden is one of the best I have seen in many a year. We didn't use the cafe thus time when we were there on the 5th of August, but we spent around an hour walking around the garden. Highly recommended.
Truly beautifully kept walled NT garden on the south side of Glasgow. Nice and peaceful with entry of benches to sit and enjoy the garden. Ample car parking. Large lawn area at the front for the kids to play on. Coffee shop on site with both indoor and outdoor seating. Worth a visit in ever season.
A short hop out of town to the south, has a coffee shop and a modest car park (it can get busy), the grounds are looking fantastic. Loads of different zones & areas to take in. Keep an eye out for the fountain. Nice little woodland walk too. Definitely a great spot to take visitors or go for a picnic on a nice day
A stunning place to spend the day. The gardens are beautiful and so clearly lovingly looked after by the Gardening team. An absolute feast for the senses with so many wonderful colours, smells and sounds.
The car park is ok size but it was very busy when we were there and people were parking outside on the road. The walled gardens are well looked after and there is different sections to walk in and around with a few benches about. In the pond if you look closely you can see tadpoles.newt and frogs. The woodland walk is easy enough to do and the path is mainly bark that can be a bit sponge in places. There is another path that runs beside the woodland walk and it's shorter and made of concrete. The toilets as beside the cafe. The cafe sells the usual Tea/coffee/juice,ice cream,crisps.The house was closed when we got there but it does say that tours will be done on Sunday afternoon April to October so not sure what happened as no staff were about.
