Castle is set in a beautiful country park. There are lots of grassland around. Great to take a walk in circle outside the castle. We feel very relaxed, and found the castle very beautiful.

Beautiful place to visit and free entry, surrounding grounds are a lovely walk, the castle itself was very interesting and was a real mix of history. Thoroughly recommend for an afternoon out, there is a cafe and facilities on site, along with a small gift shop.

Well worth the visit, beautiful grounds for a picnic, play park for kiddies, plenty of parking, tea rooms in the castle, a good insight into the local history, if you're close by or travelling past, stop in and look around.

A lovely castle that still has some functioning rooms. It is run by the council and the grounds are open for walks. There's a nice cafe inside the castle. There are often special events held inside the castle grounds and outside. Featuring famous bands. These events are fee paying but very reasonable. The sound inside the castle is excellent. The stage is not huge and the crowd is not excessive. It's a lovely castle and a really good venue for live music.

Lovely castle that is still free at the moment. It has good level gravel access inside. Obviously the towers are not able to be accessed if you gave a walking disability, but it's still well worth a visit. Council run cafe and gift shop inside that servers snacks and drinks you can also purchase alcohol too. Lots of seating inside the grounds and a really nice young children's play area. It's worth taking a walk around the grounds with its grass and woodland and a mature pond. Free parking is also available.

Lovely castle! It's quite small and very interesting! Our children were happy running around and discovering the different rooms and view points. The circular trail around it was also beautiful and buggy friendly.. There is also a very very cool playground next to the parking! And a small Cafe inside the castle.

What a beautiful place to spend the day. The castle itself is quite small so there isn't a huge amount to see within the castle walls, however what there is makes for a brilliant, relaxing and fun time for all the family. There is a small cafe serving refreshments but you are able to bring your own food and drinks and enjoy them on the many picnic tables. The whole place is super dog friendly, there are lots of picnic tables within the castle walls and situated in the many fields and woodlands. There's free parking, toilet facilities and a childs play area plus entrance to the castle is free. Well worth the 45 minute drive and we'll certainly be back.

I took my 88 year old mother in a wheelchair. We could access the castle easily and first impression of the courtyard and buildings was that they were impressive and well maintained. A light snack and drink was available from the cafe, which we enjoyed by soaking up the atmosphere. Despite the fact my mother, in a wheelchair, could not access much of the interior, she enjoyed sitting near each section entrance point, reading the information from a guidebook purchased at the cafe. A walk around the exterior was also possible. Truly an enjoyable visit and incredible that it was free entry.

We drove for just over an hour to come visit Caldicot Castle and it's was absolutely beautiful very well preserved. Gorgeous views from the top of the tower. A must see! Free entry, lots of parking, very friendly staff, a play area and duck pond and a good little cafe onsite. You can also buy duck food to feed the ducks.

What a fantastic place to visit for FREE! Even the parking is free. We had a lovely picnic in the shade of some of the big old trees around the outside then had a stroll around inside. There's a small tea room and gift shop, there was even a big sail erected to get out of the sun so we sat and had a coffee. There's a child's play area, loads of picnic tables and lavatories. It was a very pleasant walk around the grounds, all dog friendly.
