I wish I could give a minus review for a company because the service I’ve received is beyond poor. Been over a year now and still waiting for my late father’s pension to be paid out. The company will delay delay delay to gain the interest on your funds. Daylight robbery. Do not believe a word of what they tell you. Anytime you call, ask to speak to a supervisor. Uzo and Liam were both extremely unhelpful by giving me false information and failed at following up on simple requests. PLEASE AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS! If you are found in this unfortunate position of dealing with them. Write every bit of correspondence down and take legal action. That’s the route that we have unfortunately had to go down at an already difficult time.

STANDARD LIFE PERFORMANCE FALLS WELL SHORT OF MISSION STATEMENTS ON THE PHOENIX COMPANY WEBSITE, WHERE CUSTOMER VALUES AND CONCERNS ARE IGNORED AND THE PRINCIPAL OBJECTIVE IS ACHIEVING THE BEST OUTCOMES FOR THE COMPANY, AT THE EXPENSE OF CUSTOMERS.

After complaining multiple times, they still write to my father who they are fully aware has passed away. I have asked them twice to stop sending him letters but they continue. This company completely lacks common sense, compassion and is totally thoughtless.

PL2 (previously known) as Pheonix Life insurance. Direct debit taken under PL2? No letter, email or any other communication or explanation. I subsequently cancelled D/D. But now expect my life insurance cover and all monies paid in will be null & void!!

A tragic company that is unable to even perform the most basic of tasks without some level of failure. The Fawlty Towers of the financial services industry. I submitted a claim as my mother had died and she has a relatively small life insurance policy with them. Documents were requested, and sent, I made requests for updates but there was never any in response. Just an automatic email back from them saying they take up to 5 business days to respond (which they never do). Even their emails themselves didn't work, the HTML within it was - like Phoenix Life - broken. A week ago I got a phone call from Phoenix Life. Sadly they wanted to speak to someone with a completely unknown name to me - their database had somehow added my number to someone else's record. I assume they have a database, but perhaps it's just a big piece of paper, drawn on in crayon. Today I called them. Their phone service suggests I deal with the issue online as it's faster (it is not) so I persevered and spoke to someone who had the phone manner of a melting ice-cube. "It's already been paid", I was told. "But it takes up to 5 working days to appear in your account". Part of me wanted to explain how being paid means the money is with you, not that my name has been added (in crayon) to a database (possibly a roll of toilet paper) which means that someone, at some time, will decide to send me the money.

Phoenix Group is the holding company for a number of what are known as 'Zombie' funds where no new money is being taken in - they only manage existing policies which have been sold to them by other providers such as Barclays Life, L&G, Standard Life and many others. One of their bigger subsidiaries is ReAssure Group in Telford. You will see from their reviews on Google how bad they are. If you're reading this review the general feeling is to get your money out by transferring to another pension provider who is actively looking for new and increasing pension plans. Try and choose one that uses Origo - an electronic payments service used between pension providers. Google it, educate yourself and then get out. For your own performance reasons and also to pay lower fees. Phoenix survive by taking fees at a generally much higher level than other, more active and professional pension providers. You have been warned.
