5 stars for the chap in A&E department (i believe his name was andy/dan) was amazing with our little girl and made our trip there as short as possible. We were all sorted in around 45 minutes. Andy / dan mentioned we done the right thing bringing our little girl in and that we was doing an amazing job as parents - i believe every parent puts themselves down once in a while so to hear that was all it took to make someones day better Especially after a parents child is unwell. Thank you

(Emergency area) My visit to the hospital was not the best experience. The waiting time was quite long, and the waiting area felt too small for the number of patients. It’s an area that could really benefit from better organization and improved hospitality. I truly hope the hospital takes steps to enhance patient care and make the experience more comfortable and inclusive for everyone. The stuff was so friendly and they trying their best maybe i came in bad timing of baby virus season don’t know honestly

I am writing to express my deep concern and frustration regarding the unacceptable delay and poor communication surrounding my child’s ongoing medical care. My child has been diagnosed with a liver problem, which is a serious and potentially life-threatening condition. Despite the seriousness of this issue, the radiology department scheduled his appointment two months after the referral. No appointment letter was sent, and instead I received a text message with no specific time provided. I have repeatedly tried to contact the radiology department by phone — calling from 8:30 a.m. onwards — but calls often go unanswered. When I finally managed to speak with someone, I was informed that the appointment is at 9:30 a.m., and that if we cannot attend, the next available date would not be until mid-December — another delay of almost two months. This situation is completely unacceptable. My child’s health should not be put at risk due to administrative errors and poor communication. The lack of urgency, compassion, and organisation shown is both distressing and deeply disappointing.

The team at Children’s A&E and on the Penguin Ward are fantastic, 2nd to none! I’m ever so grateful they helped my son with his medical issues. The dedication and patience they have. Hats off to them.

They looked after my 8 week old baby for 4 days whilst investigations were going on and I was so blown away at how welcoming and fun this hospital is for kids. There are play rooms, outdoor play areas, murals, activities, toys and even a school for long term residents. On the ground floor there's some Wallace and Gromit sets to look at that my toddler LOVED. All this made my toddler visiting his little brother a dream. Please donate generously to the Grand Appeal charity which ensures this hospital is a welcoming space for kids. It makes a huge difference for them and parents too.

We spent a total of 10 days on Daisy ward and 2 subsequent admissions to Bluebell ward with our 4 month old baby. The care received was absolutely outstanding at every point, from A&E to discharge and we will be eternally grateful for saving our baby’s life and doing so with the utmost compassion, kindness and thorough care. As a nurse myself, it is humbling to be on the other side when you are so frightened and there are no answers. We always felt in safe hands and everyone involved in our baby’s care treated us as though we mattered and held our hand through a very dark time. We remain under the care of the neurosurgeons and the ongoing care remains exceptional with regular clinic appointments and contact, we have felt the follow up has been incredibly supportive. Bristol children’s hospital is such a special place and will always be grateful for the kindness and expertise given to our family during this difficult time. Thank you

Second time visiting meadow ward with my son. The surgeon, anesthetist and nurses were fantastic with explaining the process of the operation to us but also to make the stay as comfortable as possible for my son. Thank you to all working on Meadow ward.

Signage in entrance clearly states masks to be worn at all times and only 1 parent/carer per child patient. I observed very little following of these guidelines, and zero enforcement. Very unfair for the minority like myself that still follow these rules. Very unimpressed, what is the point of continuing to have these safety measures when for the vast majority they are ignored? *update* I have just been informed by a dr. Orin that the signage in the entrance is incorrect or out of date, so I now have to wonder, why is it still there? Very poor form or lack of professionalism quite frankly for an institution such as a hospital.

We are extremely satisfied with the hospital, the nurses and doctors there and all the care they took for our baby. We came in after visiting another A&E where they didn’t pay attention to him and he deteriorated with symptoms of scarlet fever. Immediately upon arrival he was seen, given medication and his vitals were being taken every half an hour. The A&E nurse was incredibly kind to ease our fears when we were very worried. The A&E doctor was beyond amazing, listened to us very carefully and afterwards explained to us everything in detail. The recovery from the much feared scarlet fever went exactly as the doctor said and our boy is well on the mend now. After we left, we felt relieved to have been seen by such a great specialist. Incredibly grateful to the hospital.
