Go at your own risk. Surprisingly, even the food is bad. We stayed for 2 nights in the Big Cozy room at the Dower House. First, all power sockets went off within the first hour of the entire floor. The staff was kind to give us a different room. My wife struggled to find pregnancy safe food items at dinner. She couldn’t have any of the starter options. Even though the menu remains the same, food keeps running out. Avocado ran out, chocolate mouse ran out during our stay. You’re better off attending early. My biggest concern was how whatever little that was good, became bad due to inconsistency. I loved my mushroom toast on day 1, but on day 2 they made it worse by adding a LOT of oil. My wife even got it with fried bread. More little little problems - There was random sewage smell as you enter the dower house. No one ever asked how the food was or how the stay was. Really bad.

We stayed here for a friend's 40th at the end of November. Safe to say it was a mixed experience. The rooms were lovely (I was in one of the outbuildings, friends in the main building reported it was way too hot), and the general decor is quirky and interesting to look at. The dining experience was...a bit difficult. No allergens listed on the menu, and a bizarre unwillingness to go and find out the information when we asked both at dinner and breakfast. Not ideal for various members of our party, including one with a nut allergy (yes, we had provided all allergen and dietary information prior to our arrival). It was almost impossible to order a drink from the bar before dinner - no one around, after 20 minutes we had to go and ask the receptionist. One member of staff told us they were short staffed, another then seemed genuinely annoyed that we'd been told that to the point it became unprofessional. Whilst it was exceptional value for a comfy room and half board food, drinks were very expensive (e.g. an 8 x mark up on the bottle of wine we ordered), the £2 additional cover charge for both dinner and breakfast felt unnecessary and odd, and I do not understand why the breakfast menu quoted charging £99 per meal if you wanted to order an additional breakfast. Why not just charge what an outside guest would have been charged? In summary: the room and food quality itself were excellent, but they are not set up to deal well with anyone with a dietary intolerance or allergy, expect to pay through the nose for drinks, and the service was...below par.

Expertly run by excellent staff; gobsmacked. Location: Opposite the gateway to the Hotel is a striking view Northwards to Gloucestershire. Within the hedges and trees of the estate is a beautiful estate whose approach is lined with drying timber. - £6 will get you a return bus ticket to Bath taking about 15mins either way (thanks Marco for the advice) Rooms: Ridiculously comfortable; even Goldilocks would have trouble criticising the bed’s softness. Terry O’Niell portraits adorned the room, making us feel cultured to know some of the faces on the walls (though they didn’t feel intrusive). Restaurant: The food was exceptional: a simple menu of high-quality ingredients. The atmosphere and manor of the staff were the best I have ever experienced; all were remarkably professional and seemed to genuinely enjoy their roles. It all seemed far beyond the scope of the price… Price: I didn’t think I’d have been able to afford such luxury; myself and my partner were made to feel welcome and valued, especially “down south”.

We booked for 2 nights with dinner and breakfast included on both days. The food was delicious which was to be be expected the fillet of beef literally had my mouth watering. Cherry on top was setting eyes on Marco in the dinning room with friends. All the front of house staff were really helpful and attentive without being intrusive. And the house keeping team were really friendly and did an excellent job! You have the choice of four amazingly styled lounges to choose from after dinner or during the day. We found some board games but our lack of general knowledge for trivial pursuit left us playing with our own playing cards. I really hope to come back soon.

Wonderful two nights at the Rudloe Arms. A very unique hotel and each room is different in the manor house. Super cool furniture and photos of beautiful people on the walls. The food was great every night as well as breakfast. The staff went far and beyond making sure we had everything we needed, especially the manager Stephen. He moved my father to a room that was easier for him as he is 85 and not very mobile. We came back and all bags were moved and taken care of. It was my father’s birthday and they made a special desert for him. Incredible grounds as well, just a really special hotel. Will be back!

Stayed at this hotel for a weekend with friends. It's packed with character, full to the brim with items of interest. The main building has 4 lounges a bar and a restaurant. We opted for the superior rooms which were spacious and luxurious. Food was good, though menu was limited. Service was lacking, mainly down to bring understaffed and the hotel being full, so that can be improved. We had an enjoyable weekend and am very happy to recommend to others.

Absolutely loved our stay here. Room was quirky, very different, but spotlessly clean and really warm, comfortable and cosy. Loved it. Big walk in shower which was really powerful and warm. Staff were extremely courteous and very helpful. Bar was different to any other bar I been to but the uniqueness made it all the more special. Decor in all the reception rooms and the bedroom was very cool, love the art collection. But the best part, had to be the evening meal. Food was out of this world. I love my food and have had lots of fine dining experiences at some of the best restaurants, but this was definitely right up there. Comfortable, casual, relaxed restaurant and the food was spot on, with good size portions. Breakfast was perfect to, I usually love an all you can eat buffet breakfast but this was outstanding anyway. All in all, absolutely 5 star all round.

Rudloe Arms may not be for everyone. If you want formulaic "ordinary", suggest you go elsewhere. If you want the expected, a typical branded hotel, then book another property. HOWEVER, if you want a fabulous experience that ignites all the senses, go to Rudloe. It's quirky, it's different, it's a little bit of escapism mixed with the extraordinary. It's Marco Pierre White's home. His furnishings, his art collections, his stunning gardens, his team and of course, his food. We were made welcome from the moment we arrived. The 4 lounges provide the most interesting backdrop for a relaxing evening. Just when you think you've seen it all, you eyes divert off to another of Mr White's quirky artefacts. The atmosphere is relaxed, not pretentious and yet you still feel special. We spoke with other guests and the Rudloe team. Marco himself mixed with the guests, introduced us to his family and provided some insight into the hotel and his vision. Thank you Team Rudloe for looking after us so well. It may not be for everyone, but it was for us.... fabulous.

What an amazing place to stay and eat! Loved it. The room was beautiful with great artwork, lovely furniture and a massive shower. Spotlessly clean. The house is stunning with relaxing lounges to sit in and enjoy. The food and service was fantastic, staff were polite and worked hard. We will definitely be back.

I recently stayed at Rudloe on 1st June for two nights. We stayed in room 323 which was a nice room but we had a few issues: the shower drain was blocked so I had to turn off the water half way through washing my hair, wait for the water to drain and then continue. I had to stop the water twice otherwise it would’ve flowed out of the shower tray on to the floor. The mirror needs to be moved to over the dressing table rather than above the kettle, it was extremely awkward to apply make or blow dry our hair. I did come to reception on various occasions to discuss these matters but the door was locked. I was very disappointed with the restaurant having the same menu every night, as a vegetarian with no choice but beetroot and gnocchi, I didn’t expect to have the same meal two nights in a row. I asked the waiter Josh about this, his response was “we change the menu seasonally” then walked off, whispered to a young lady to take our order then he didn’t serve us for the rest of the evening. I felt embarrassed and uncomfortable at Josh’s response as it was uncalled for. At breakfast I asked if I could have juice as I don’t eat eggs and was only able to have toast, the response was that I’d have to pay the surcharge. When I book a stay with breakfast I don’t expect to have all these extra surcharges, usually everything is included. I’ve honestly had better breakfasts at the Premier Inn! On a positive note I would like to acknowledge Jack who was attentive to my friends dietary restrictions and Eva who was friendly and helpful. It’s a shame she doesn’t have any one else covering reception when she’s not there, usually hotels have 24/7 reception cover.
