Excellent cosy rooms, excellent service (as always) and location will never need proving as it’s iconic. I work in Bristol which is a fair way from my home so I get to stay away once a week - This has been my top choice for the last 5 years. Price, Quality and general experience is overall a top hotel experience which I have experienced in very few places.

As the owner of Hex Chauffeurs, I’ve had the pleasure of visiting St. Pierre Country Club many times, providing transport for our clients who stay or attend events there. We also work closely with one of our partner companies based in Chepstow, who have an account with us and regularly arrange journeys to and from this beautiful hotel. The surroundings are stunning, and the staff are always professional, friendly, and welcoming. Every arrival and departure runs smoothly thanks to their excellent coordination and hospitality. It’s always a pleasure working with such a dedicated team in such a wonderful location. Highly recommended from Hex Chauffeurs – High-End Executive Experience. — Stelian Paval Founder, Hex Chauffeurs

My husband and I had our wedding here a couple of weeks ago. The staff was 10/10, with great and attentive service and attention to detail. I had a clear vision and instructions which were followed to a T, with the staff going above and beyond and actually providing things which I hadn’t expected. We felt extremely well looked after on our wedding day, and couldn’t compliment them enough. The food was outstanding and abundant, being even better than we expected (and we’d had a taster!). In fact, the only ‘complaint’ we’ve received from our guests is that the food was so good and abundant that they were disappointed not to be able to eat more! Leading up to the wedding, the events team (Lisa) was always on hand for any and every query we had. We also got a full body massage at the spa the day prior to help us relax. This was amazing, so relaxing and exactly what we needed. The masseuse was excellent. We stayed at the lakeside honeymoon suite for two nights and the room was lovely. The only down side is that there is no air con. The room was clean and tidy, and the reception staff even came over at early hours when I called to ask for some more shower gel as we’d run out. The grounds and buildings are stunning, which is great for photos. Everyone was super friendly and we had the best weekend ever celebrating with our family and friends. We all had a lovely time and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend St. Pierre for anyone looking for a wedding venue.

Upon check in we were greeted by a lovely friendly member of staff, who informed me that as an ambassador elite member we'd been upgraded to the honeymoon suite for the first two nights of our stay. This was a small cottage within the courtyard, as soon as we walked in there was a very strong musty damp smell, so we kept the windows open all of the time. The rooms were nice, but basic, the ceilings however, looked like they could fall down at any minute, there were papered over cracks and bulges, it just looks like it's not been touched for years, it could be made into such a lovely space with a little thought. On the last night we were moved to room 405, a " Lakeview" room, this sounded like the perfect end to our stay, if you could actually see the lake that is! The tiny window had a massive bush/tree growing right in front of it, so you literally couldn't see anything at all, and it blocked out almost all of the natural light! The room at least had no smell, it was clean and sizeable, the bathroom was nice, apart from there's nothing to grab hold of when getting out of the shower/bath, I almost slipped and fell, but managed to save myself, and elderly guest might not be so lucky, there should really be a grab handle on the wall. The first night we ate at the castle iron grill, we both had steak, which wasn't cheap, and the quality of it didn't really match the price. However the staff were very knowledgeable when it came to my partner's gluten free requirements, but overall it was a poor meal and overpriced. On the last night we ate at the trophy bar, again the staff were brilliant, but the food wasn't, we both had the burger with belly pork, which was pretty bland, and with only child's portion of fries, again very overpriced at £20.00 each. I'd like to say that the staff throughout the hotel are fantastic, absolutely lovely and helpful. Breakfast on the first day was really nice, a good sized buffet with more than enough choices. There was one day when the food looked pretty undercooked, the sausages all looked like they'd just been waved at the frying pan, and the normally excellent bacon was half cooked at best, possibly different chef on that day? Overall the hotel was ok, maybe I've been spoilt in the past, but this place needs a bit of an overhaul to say the least!

Rooms were basic but comfortable, drinks were a little pricey. Both golf courses were in good condition and provided some beautiful views with great feature holes. Gym and pool with sauna and jacuzzi were a real added bonus. Food was excellent as was the service with extremely helpful staff. Would definitely recommend a visit.

It's a Marriott so the beds are as comfortable as I always expect. However, the walls in the main hotel are paper thin and therefore it sounds like your neighbours are in the room with you. A beautiful parish church on site and the entrance to the hotel is awesome - however I wouldn't recommend. Restaurant is poor value for money, but I guess we are a "captive audience".

We booked a night in a Lakeside villa which was a bit dated, but lovely. Cleaning could have been a bit more thorough as glitter and cobwebs under desk and windows didn't look as if they'd been cleaned for months, but a nice space all the same. I had a hot stone massage in the health spa which unfortunately was not very good and my husband went for a swim in the pool. The pool and spa areas are old and tired. Even a quick revamp would make them look cleaner. The massage therapist was friendly enough, but came across as inexperienced and could develop her people skills. I've had lots of massages in my time and this one wasn't one of the best. The room was very cold. I'm glad I opted for hot stones because it was the only warm things about the entire experience! When I told the therapist that I was cold, she said she was warm and asked if I'd like her to get me a blanket, but I was so cold by then, it took ages to warm up. In most places, they usually use a heated under blanket but there was no heat coming from that either. After she'd finished, I stood on the floor and that was freezing! The radiator was barely warm. I have to be honest and say I was glad to get out and go and get a coffee to warm me up. I didn't come out relaxed and I don't think I'd ever go back. My husband complained to reception who said they'd tell the facilities manager, but that was it. Quite a disappointing experience for what is a lovely hotel in places.

Very relaxing Marriot to stay at. The whole place is quite dated but with it being a castle does work quite well. Everything was clean and working order, had a good sleep and the dinner and breakfast were really good. All staff really nice and friendly. The only thing would be nice to have was a fridge in the room. Not used the leisure club or golf course but seems like this place is a golfer’s paradise. Solid 4 stars.

Beautiful buildings, disgusting service at dinner and no apologies for incorrect evening meals delivered. Breakfast choice was good but no fresh Tea/Coffee just urns with mugs left on the tables( hardly 4☆) Both golf courses in similar average condition, not what I expected at all. Pool was nice

The hotel location and staff were delightful. The view from our room was beautiful and the facilities of the room were good but room cleanliness was well below par. At the breakfast buffet I had to suggest to a waitress that the cold meats be moved away from direct sunlight.
