the public transport options mean that I might not be able to visit as often as I hope but the range & quality of the snacks & drinks were decent, the staff were friendly & helpful on every visit & the facilities eg screening, toilets were always clean when I arrived with my friends
Great cinema... can't fault it! Great sound and visuals, friendly staff. We had an issue with a group of kids shouting abuse in the cinema to begin with but the cinema staff were informed and dealt with it immediately! The group was removed efficiently and we were offered complementary tickets for the inconvenience - albeit the disturbance was only very brief. Amazing service! Thanks Showcase and in particular the cinema manager - we will be back to enjoy more films!
My partner and I have visited several cinemas across Bristol, but there was always something that detracted from the experience — whether it was subpar sound quality or visible smudges on the projector that created distracting spots on the screen throughout the film. One of the most frustrating issues in other venues has been the practice of leaving dimmed lights on during the screening. This prevents the auditorium from ever becoming fully dark, which significantly impacts the atmosphere and immersion. In my opinion, complete darkness is essential to the cinema experience. At Showcase Bristol Avonmeads, however, everything is truly excellent. The sound and picture quality are top-notch, and the seating is outstanding — very comfortable and well-designed. I’m giving this cinema five stars for the overall experience. That said, I must mention that I had to leave a recent screening due to a disruptive group of teenagers who were talking loudly and eating noisily throughout the film. While this is, of course, not the fault of the cinema itself, it highlights a broader issue: many modern cinemas are becoming more like casual dining spaces, where watching a film seems secondary to eating snacks. It's a shame, as the magic of going to the cinema used to be about full immersion, respect for the experience, and a shared appreciation of film. Despite that, Showcase Avonmeads remains one of the best venues in the city.
This is a really authentic, slightly old school but rustic cinema. Extremely clean, good vibes and friendly staff. Pricing is very reasonable. The leather recliner chairs are super comfortable and cosy. Really large screen with decent audio. Popcorn top notch, the nachos were pretty average. Plenty of parking and fast food places nearby. Location is fantastic. Highly recommended.
I love this cinema. The 90s carpets and proper Neon light tubes are amazing. I hope they don't decide to modernise it and remove it's charm. The seats are also very good especially the leather lazy boys. It was great to recline and put your feet up. The cinema is well looked after and maintained. It felt very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. This is a great local asset. I'm Looking forward to my next visit.
It's been 6 years Since I last went to the showcase And I must admit they improved the cinema. The seats are more up-to-date now and the screens have become a lot bigger. Snacks are still overpriced but that's for all cinemas. Can't think of any problems with this place, could be my new go-to.
This is how a cinema should be. The typical atmosphere, big car park, look of a cinema, giant lobby, big screens... Since the cinemas have started moving at the top floor of shipping malls, I thought the atmosphere and ambiance was lost. In the age where everyone has home cinema at home; Going to the cinema is all about experience and ambiance. This one brought it back.
Absolutely lovely cinema. They’ve refurbished one side of the cinema with the other due for completion in 2023 and what a difference. It’s lovely! Can’t wait to get back to the cinema again! We give showcase a big shout on radio bath as they have spent lots now people just need to use it! Cinema staff friendly and management had a chat with us about what was happening! Really good plans! Go and visit!
Lovely cinema which has kept its original features since it opened. Usually less busier than going to Cabot Circus which is good as I prefer it quiet. Now has recliner seats in most screens. All screens to be completed at the end of March.
Great value for the money. Looks like a travel back in time. Old cinema however, it is like that in purpose. Full of parking space, and several supermarkets nearby. Really enjoy this place, feels like in 80s.
