Monica Aziz almost sent my son insane. She’ll manipulate you twist your words ignore all correspondence because she doesn’t know how to take accountability. I don’t know how she still able to work with young vulnerable children/teens
if i could give minus stars i would, thanks for abusing me camhs. dr monica aziz should be fired instantly. dont be manipulated into thinking that the only establishment that can provide mental health support for young people shouldn’t be able to help you, like the other reviews claim. the only purpose of camhs is to help you, if they don’t do that, they’re not doing their job. end of.
I went to this camhs for 7 years, starting in 2016. Quick referral at the time. Very focused on only CBT therapies. Most likely will not take you very seriously, if you're depressed the answer is to have a warm bath or have a cup of tea. Bad at dealing with autistic people. Quite common for your therapist to be a training psychologist, they come and go within a few months so probably not great to get attached to your therapist. Would like you to very quickly get over your mental health problems, 12-16 week therapy to "get over" whatever you have, most likely a corruptness within the child mental health system rather than the blame of the people working there, however any long term conditions and bigger issues will most likely not work well in this system nor this camhs. If you do have long term conditions such as clinical depression, severe anxiety, or more, then most of your experience here will probably just be them testing out a new CBT therapy every 8 weeks, and will probably say it's you not working hard enough to fix things if it doesn't work out. The staff are alright, just never seem passionate or well versed enough in child-teenage psychology to actually care enough about your issues. Better to only come if you have very mild anxiety or minimal depression, but you probably won't be referred here for that by your GP anyway.
Slow waiting times, however not something within the control of CHAMS but the amount of funding the govt gives. Therapists and the such don't always work for everyone, don't come here expecting a magic cure, but simply as a place to pause, reassess yourself and see if you need to be referred to more specialist care or not.
