   To say we were disappointed with Oadby Garden is an understatement. We had high hopes for this Chinese takeaway – it’s right on the high street and looks authentic from the outside, which initially drew us in. We ordered on a Thursday evening when it was clearly quiet, so we expected a decent standard. What stood out on the menu was the vegetarian selection, especially the dedicated tofu range, which seemed promising. We ordered tofu chow mein, spring rolls, tofu with soy sauce (requested spicy), and boiled rice. Although the food arrived hot, the quality was really poor. The tofu in the chow mein was soggy and clearly reheated – a real letdown, especially when the tofu in the soy sauce dish was fresh and well-cooked. It made no sense to use old and fresh tofu in the same order. The soy sauce dish, despite asking for it to be spicy, was barely mild. The vegetables in the chow mein were undercooked, and the rice was also underdone – both things you really shouldn’t have to deal with from a takeaway. Overall, it felt like a complete waste of time, effort, and money. Really disappointing and not somewhere we’d consider ordering from again.

   Never again. Not one I usually go to but being a Tuesday the others were shut. A 20 minute wait became 30 and then 40 eventually 50 minutes for the food to come. Ordered a safe bet with the black peppered chips and veg noodles. Chips were so bland, dry and no substance. Staff could be seen using a fryer and black pepper sprinkled on top. No wok in sight! Noodles were the worst I have ever had being so undercooked, dry and with an unbalanced seasoning to match. You can see the commotion in the kitchen reflected on the steel finished wall, no gloves worn or hair nets. A great place for overpriced, undercooked, bland boring food masquerading as a Chinese take away. Avoid.

   Ordered from here tonight as our usual place was closed. Overjoyed with what we got. Fresh tasty food. Great balance of chilli to heat and not too salty or sweet which I often find to be the problem when trying new Chinese takeaways out. Better food and cheaper than our old place too. Best Chinese we’ve had in ages.

   Smallest chicken balls I've ever seen. The food was tasty. However I order the same items from any Chinese and always feel full after. But first time using here and on this occasion I was not full as the portions just seemed smaller.

   Wonderful first visit to Oadby Garden. It was recommended to us and we had the Cantonese Special Set Dinner for Two which was brilliant. So much food for us both. Very full afterwards! No scrimping on the meat and seafood in any of the dishes and also very tasty. Instead of waiting like we did this time we will ring and collect after about 20 minutes or so. Not a bad thing as you know it isn't rushed. Will definitely be returning.
