We pre-booked for cream tea and the were very happy with the food as well as service! Service was friendly and prompt and we never felt rushed, the atmosphere was nice and relaxed despite being a busy weekend. We're looking forward to going back again!

The food was decent, although overpriced and small portions. The issue was the waiting time and service however. We waited nearly 1.5 hours for it to arrive. No explanation, no apology. The staff had no interest in us being there, felt like a total inconvenience. Avoid

I really loved the ambiance of the garden bar and we enjoyed dinner there. The chips were so good we ordered another portion of them! The service was decent but unfortunately the cappuccino I had might be the worst I’ve ever been served, although I suspect that may be due to the almond milk that was used and not the fault of the person who made it.

We did get the 39.5£ steak which was very fatty and unenjoyable. I’d say very expensive and overpriced. The service was good though and the atmosphere was nice.

Came for a work dinner with supplier and the food was of an exceptional quality. Would definately return with my partner. The food was full of flavour and arranged beautifully. Servive was great. I marked down on atmosphere because it was so quiet, I would recommend this place to others.

Sadly as previously stated it has gone down hill. Staff are not what they use to be, food wasn’t a good as previously been and the price has gone up and was too expensive for the quality of the food. A real shame as we use to love coming here and won’t be back anytime soon. Also the hotel needs a good lock of paint and new carpets as I popped for a quick walk and noticed that it is staring to look a little shabby. If you don’t sort it out soon it’ll be too late!

This place has really gone downhill. The service is terrible and the food is hugely overpriced and not very good. Disappointing visit, I won't be going again.

I visited the Garden on 14/05/22. The staff were all incredibly friendly and the setting was faultless. The pricey menu was explained by the great quality of all the food. The afternoon tea comes with a lot, but we could take away what we didn't eat. I will definitely be back again!

First I'd like to qualify this review by saying we have had good meals and afternoon teas here in the past. The food at our sons wedding reception was exceptional. They definitely had an off night last night. I love bread, so I ordered the mini loaf for a starter. It turned up quite quickly and it was huge – not far off a small loaf size. We both started it while waiting for my wife's starter to appear. About fifteen minutes later the main courses arrived. Waiter was apologetic. He'd taken the order for the starter and the kitchen staff missed it. Neither of us has a big appetite. As we intended to have three courses we decided not to have any side dishes. That was a mistake as the portions were small and the bits the main courses came with were stingy to say the least. The food was warm, certainly not hot. Vegetarianism isn't exactly a new thing in Britain. Like it or not there are millions of us and the only veggie dish on the menu was pea risotto. It annoys me when they charge through the nose for something made with very cheap ingredients and that is the only option on offer. There were no vegan main courses and the only vegan starter I can remember (a tomato salad) wasn't available that evening. God help you if you're a veggie and staying in the hotel as you're going to get seriously bored with the food. Anyway, the main courses were okay, although I've had food which tasted better for a fraction of the price elsewhere. When the floor manager came over to collect the plates I mentioned we weren't happy about the missing starter. He knew about it but hadn't offered an apology until I mentioned it. Then he implied that we were at fault for not chasing up the order! I said we assumed the bread came first because it was cold and the hot starter would follow. Your bread was cold? He said. That was when we found that the bread should have been warm. There was no apology offered for that, just as there was no offer of reducing the bill, or free drinks, or a complimentary desert. We paid the bill and left without leaving a tip. Bloody awful experience. It occurred to me later. We went to a posh restaurant expecting a treat and the only reason we didn't feel hungry when we left was because we ate bread.

What a terrible experience! I was bought an afternoon tea for two voucher as a birthday gift and we chose to use it here - what a mistake! We arrived early which seemed to be a massive inconvenience to the waitress, we were seated in the garden room which was lovely! Very light and airy. However the tables either side of us were within touching distance from us, it was very crammed in. The waitress then came over and was more interested in our gift voucher than explaining the menu to us and asked four times if we have forwarded it to the hotel email(which we did the first time she asked) then whilst waiting for our food to arrive we watch two poor ladies get swarmed by wasps, they we're all over the food and flying round them, staff just walked past, no offer to sit indoors. We then requested to sit indoors away from the wasps but we were told there are no tables, I asked a different waitress when our food arrived and she happily sat us indoor on one of the MANY empty tables. What a disappointing experience.
