Recently went to the Bear Inn for a mid week Christmas work party. The pub is full of character features like the oak beams and extremely clean and tidy. The staff and manager were very friendly and hospitable. The service was very good for a largest group. The food off the main menu was very good and better value for money than the festive menu. The food off the festive menu was a different story the duo of duck was shocking to say the lest .The duck breast was so over it .On the menu the duck was advertise as pink but served very well done and dry. The roasted honey glazed root veg looked like it had been no were near a roasting tin but boiled the hell out of it to give it a unique taste and texture. The pate was a warm almost liquid spreadable mass. The highlight of the dinner was the duck fat and rosemary roasties. They were that hard and must have been done in a deep fat fryer because being that small, hard and all the fluffy centre had disappeared. You could have used as hardcore or a missle. The starter was OK but tiny portion with only 3 pieces of crispy pork belly but no roasted garlic alioi served garlic mayo instead a big difference. The Christmas pudding was just a slice of one, a strange presentation choice. Over all the staff were excellent and friendly. The festive menu avoid like the plague definitely not value for money.

The place has a unique atmosphere and the serving staff are friendly but time after time we find the food appears after 25 mins wait and its quality ( main courses such as roasts) is very average. This is due to the chef using a sauce from a packet and vegetables reheated from the day before . It does not take much to make a good sauce but Bear Inn in Berkswell prefers to use a packet. The result is oversalted and unpleasant tasting meal. Soup are acceptable but white bread ( dry and bland) is not. Thesd opinions are based on several visits by my husband and myself over a number of years .

Great to stop by for a coffee with your dog. If sunny and quiet on a weekday sit peacefully outside with your dog and sip your hot coffee loads of space and bench tables and grassed area for your dog to enjoy. I've written this review because so many people associate only cafés with coffee and pubs for drinking eating. It's such a shame so many pubs are quiet in the week with staff on hand waiting to give you service. So next time you're wanting to treat yourself on your dog walk stop at your local pub. Always dog treats.

I have heard good things about the Bear Inn in Berkswell, so I decided to give it a go today for lunch. I ordered from the festive menu as follows.... Starter Wild Prawns on a crumpet with a herb sauce. The Starter was great, I would definitely have this again. Main Course Roast Turkey This was disappointing. The Turkey was OK but the veg reminded me of school canteen veg with slightly more finesse. The carrots and sprouts were soft and soggy as if they had been microwaved. The roast potatoes and parsnips were ok though. Dessert Christmas pudding with Brandy sauce This was good.

This restaurant is very good. The location is good to find, there are enough parking spots and inside the restaurant looks and is very cozy. The waiters are very friendly and nice. The food is excellent and also the prices are fair.

I visited the bear in last night with my family and what a lovely experience I had. Kerri was our waitress and she was so attentive and polite. I could go as far as saying one of the best experiences we have had as a family while eating out. We normally feel as if we are in a rush when having a family meal and it was such a pleasant change. We have visited before however the new staff memebers are a huge improvement to the restaurant. We will be booking again soon!

We had a lovely time here this week. Bear Inn is a fantastic traditional pub with excellent staff, the food was good and very reasonably priced on the lunch menu. However, it lacked a bit of attention to detail, as you can see in some of the photos (hollandaise sauce on the edge of the plate, a piece of onion in the sauce next to the burger), but considering this isn't a fine dining establishment, these small issues can easily be overlooked. We'll certainly return for more and hopefully experience their lovely outdoor area.
