When we first walked in, there was a strong unpleasant smell in the restaurant. However, based on the good reviews, we decided to stay and give it a chance. We ordered a combo, but it didn’t match what was described on the menu. The California rolls were missing, and when we asked about it, we were told the chef had decided to replace them with more tuna rolls—without informing us beforehand. What we actually got wasn’t even “more” tuna rolls, just the end pieces of one roll. We also ordered a prawn ramen but were served pork ramen with a couple of tempura prawns placed on the side—the same kind of frozen tempura prawns you can buy from Costco. The ramen itself looked very basic: just noodles, an egg, and spring onions. We were offered miso broth as an alternative, but for £17, I would expect something far more thoughtful than frozen fried prawns next to a simple broth. We ended up cancelling the ramen order altogether, especially as there was no mention on the menu that all ramen is made using tonkotsu (pork) broth—which I do not eat. The California rolls we did receive were strangely chewy, which was disappointing. The final issue that pushed me to write this review was when we asked for the bill. The waiter brought the card machine straight over, and the amount shown was 10% higher than expected. When I asked to see the actual bill first, the amount was correct. There was no explanation given as to whether a service charge was being added or why the difference existed. Overall, we were not impressed and would not return. There are plenty of other sushi restaurants with a nicer atmosphere and much better food.

This place never misses! I come here every time I'm in Stratford upon avon and I can easily say it is my favourite sushi place in the UK! Ken and the staff are so lovely and provide wonderful service every time- fast, friendly and efficient. I reccomend the spicy beef ramen and the king prawn tempura. The aburi (flame-seared) salmon nigiri is also incredible.

This was a small place. We needed a quick late lunch snack and this was perfect. Service was very good and food came out very quickly. We like the food very much and recommend it.

Popped in here with no expectations, just wanted something interesting to eat on New Year’s Day. It was lovely, really tasty fresh food, great service and clean and tidy. Would definitely go again. I had spicy beef ramen, I was worried it might be a spicier than I like but it was perfect, especially on a chilly day.

Authentic non-chain feel and quirky decor. Fast taking my order despite being busy. Tasty sushi! Worth knowing they don't have a rest room.

We ate here on Wednesday. Hands down the best sushi we’ve had in the UK. I love the friendly relaxed atmosphere of the place and the staff are welcoming and friendly. It was also very reassuring to see Japanese tourists eating here at the same time. I’ve seen a few reviews complaining about prices but prices for all goods are increasing at the moment. The price definitely reflects the quality and care in the preparation of this food which we certainly felt as we ate it. Sushi is my daughters favourite food and we’ve already planned to head back to Stratford-Upon-Avon for her birthday (3 hrs away) to eat here.

Sushi was great but the ramen lacked flavour and variety. Bubble tea was a nice touch to the place, but not a lot of selections. Very cute family run sushi restaurant.

We’ve had lots of meals and takeaways from here over the past few years and for what it is, we just can’t fault it. In fact we absolutely love it. We always order sushi and the umi combo is our favourite. It’s always super fresh and served with a smile. We take our own wine when we eat in and they never charge corkage. They are happy to open it for us and provide glasses. Trust me, if this was in a trendy area of a city centre it would cost at least double if not more. My only critique is the lack of toilet. We have told lots of people about this hidden gem and they have all raved about how good it is. A great local sushi spot that doesn’t cost the earth!
