Went in on Saturday, staff were unfriendly. Place was busy and staff dragging their feet looking like they were working there against their will. Food was horrendous, chips cooked in old oil, the small fish the same and the fish bites were like boneless sprats in batter. Worst chippy I've ever visited and I'm not skinny.
My first visit. The food was standard chip shop style - it was ok. Average fish and chips. The service was very functional. No sme. No chat. Just served and gone.

Had a fish & chip supper with mushy peas for 2 last weekend, the service was excellent, everything was cooked to order as it was around 8.45pm had to wait 10 minutes but it was absolutely worth it, great size fish crispy batter huge portion of chips and perfect mushy peas, overall 5 stars it was lovely and we will be back soon as we live 14 miles away, however we visit this chippy everytime we are in the area.
Had fish and chips twice in the same week. Great size portions and tasted lovey too. Highly recommend.
The Chips are often a bit greasy, which stops me using this business over others fairly close by. I give them a try every year or so, to see if things have changed. I think they need to up the temperature in the fryer or work out what others are doing better, as everything else is ok.
Food nice but the owner is rude, dismissive and unhelpful. Serving staff are nice, just a shame about the owner. Have claimed for over 12 months that you have to pay by cash only as their internet is faulty…. Ye right. ???. Won’t bother again. Balsall Common Fish Bar is much better and the owner smiles and appreciates his customers (unlike this place).
A convenient chip shop if you're camping down the road at the adults only caravan park. The girl is very friendly and we had a good chat while waiting for the fish to cook. My main complaint is that the batter is very thick and is cooked so that the outside is solid but inside it's not cooked through, although the fish is, not sure if the oil is too hot or the recipe not quite right, to be honest prefer mine cooked in dripping. However the fish was a decent size and once the batter scraped off very tasty. Loads of chips, only bought one portion and two of us couldn't finish them. It saved me cooking.
The food can be quite good. The chips are enjoyable enough. Edit - I’m here today and the chips are terrible. Ugh. Even a shake of Seasoned Salt cant disguise the made hours ago taste, at least last visit they were fresh. The fish is very average, fleshy but not quite hitting the spot. Batter is too thick and I tend to leave it behind. The fryer isn’t a terribly friendly fellow. On asking a question he gave a one word answer then blanked me. Impressions count, this wasn’t a good one. Chippys should be friendly, community hubs. This one doesn’t give me great vibes.
