We visited here on the recommendation of our friends, and it’s a 104 mile round trip from Llanelli - well worth the effort! The atmosphere was warm and vibrant and we had VIP treatment from all the staff. They were all very pleasant and friendly, and Elliott went above and beyond his call of duty for us - thank you. We all opted for the 2 course Sunday lunch menu, and the choice was exceptional - something for everyone! I had the Vegatable soup starter with Welsh Roast Rib of Beef as my main. The beef was very tasty and melting in your mouth, and the Yorkshire pudding, vegetable's and gravy just complimented it - pure Perfection! The service by the staff was faultless and I highly recommend The Old Custom House to anyone who’s wanting an extra special restaurant with fantastic food with excellent service by their polite, friendly and helpful staff! We’ll definitely be visiting you again soon and many thanks to Elliott for making our first visit such an enjoyable one! Chapeau to the chef and every staff member - Jeff, Nicola and friends.

First time for the Sunday lunch and it was so lovely. Staff were attentive and we were not rushed at all even though we had early booking. Always love the ambiance here. My fave place

A lovely place at the end of the Cardiff Bay barrage and close to Penarth Marina. Beautiful building and interior furnishings. You choose what you want to eat at the food counter, with some dishes eg steaks & fish costing by weight. Meals were good quality & delicious if a little pricey for some items - a special occasion place, but one i recommend visiting. Great wine menu and choice too, including by the glass and a few half bottles.

The food here is pretty good, but I think they could be more creative for non-meat diners. The veggie patty option was unappealing so the mushroom and asparagus starters were my best choice for a main option. Definitely not the best in Penarth for vegan/veggie options. Steak wasn’t great either apparently, but diners were from Texas, so their bar is much higher.

This unique and classy restaurant offers an impressive selection of fresh meats, vibrant salads, and a variety of great desserts. The attentive staff is always on hand to assist, creating a welcoming atmosphere enhanced by lovely background music. Our waitress Monica provided exceptional service, adding to the overall delightful experience. This hidden gem is perfect for both family outings and romantic evenings.

This restaurant can polarise opinions. It’s a place where there is no menu, but you go up to a food bar similar to the butcher or deli in a supermarket and physically choose your piece or meat or fish. If you choose fish, it will be boned and prepared by your table before being cooked in the open kitchen. Nothing comes with sides, if you want any accompaniment it comes at extra cost from vegetables to potatoes etc. Very very expensive and extensive selection of wines on offer. No non alcoholic menu although they do have coke. A unique experience with excellent food, but comes with a pricey tag.

The Custom House is by far one of the best restaurants in Cardiff. The atmosphere and decor is lovely and the location for views especially at night time. The food is lovely also and the 2 course menu is great value for money. I like the whole go to the counter and choose your food it's a nice little touch. The staff are always smart and very friendly. To me the place is flawless. You won't be disappointed. Been my favourite restaurant for years.

Pick your own meat, plenty of sides reasonably priced for how delicious the food is. Not my first visit, I’ve been several times over the past 4 /5 years and has been consistent on every visit worth a visit if your in Cardiff

The custom house is one of my favourite places to eat out in cardiff, I love the Sunday roast and for the quality and service I think it is good value. Perfect place for a celebration! Every time I have been it has been busy the atmosphere is bustling but the food has always been quick but not rushed! The food is delicious I will definitely be back! It’s also a good place to stop for a drink on the sunny terrace when the weather is good!

Good service, lovely food but not my preferred way to order a meal. Have to queue up like a school canteen and pick what you want to eat from the options written on a wall. Not a lot of thinking time especially if people are behind you waiting their turn. Extensive wine list if you know your wines - I don't. Price wise on a par with Millar and carter.
