5**** on allergen awareness and food safety!! I asked if they had gluten free cones (which was advertised on the window but always double check) and they said yes. He then (without prompting) said they used separate scoops and would use a fresh tub of ice cream. He then listed which ice creams were not gluten free. Fantastic service and such reassurance! I also heard him serve someone who was dairy free and they reassured they used a different scoop for the sorbet to the ice cream. I wish all businesses were like this! The ice cream itself and cone were yummy. Happily go back again and again.

A great place for refreshments on Penarth pier with good opening hours. Got a Cadbury's hot chocolate and some welsh cakes to take-out before walking back to the Cliff parade free car park. Chatted about the Downtown Penarth mountain bike race in 2007.

Lovely little cafe/ice cream shop on the pier. Seems like a family run place and always pleasant. Lovely ice cream too. Not a huge selection but always something that you fancy as they have specials too. Decent prices for a prime location. Support local and pay cash

Not real chips. Waited 15 minutes for burnt Cod and Chips. It was chewy like rubber and the chips were from a bag. If you're after a real fish and chips you are not getting it here. Saw lots of people by the pier with real fish and chips whilst I was picking at my cod and cardboard chips.

Joe's serves perfect fries, ice creams, and drinks located on the Pier deck. They have a unique order collection system. When you place the order, they hand over a small device to you. Whenever the order is ready, the device buzzes indicating the order is ready. The device needs to be returned while collecting the order. They serve fries, ice creams, hot and cold drinks, and burgers. I ordered medium fries which was sufficient for the two people. The fries were hot and tasty as well.

We came here late morning, yesterday, and had chips. The service was quick, the staff; lovely and the chips were excellent. The smaller portion was very filling. We came back later, after a walk around the esplanade and the pier, for black coffee and they were a tad busier but provided equally friendly, efficient service. Coffee was great too! We'll be coming again, next time we're down here!

I work for the national autistic society, visited with one of our gentleman who uses picture exchange communication (pecs). The female staff member waited patiently as the gentleman selected his pecs and handed them over speaking to him as opposed to myself. She was friendly and welcoming and gave the gentleman a sense of independence as well as food he very much enjoyed.
