Ordered for the first time as i had heard good things and i can say it was the best Chinese I’ve had in ages. The chicken fried rice is packed with chicken it’s a good portion. The salt and pepper balls were absolutely lovely. None of the chicken was dry they are good portion sizes. I would definitely order again. I’ve been looking for a decent Chinese for ages and now I’ve found one

Ordered for the first time, never again! Prawn crackers clearly old, crispy duck not crispy fatty, awful but the dogs enjoyed it. Special fried rice went in the bin and the salt and pepper chips followed it! Literally the worst meal ever ordered from a takeaway.... never again

For some reason they really skimped on the curry sauce in the rice/noodle combo. Brah, I'll just pay for the curry sauce seperate next time, don't make it an option if I have one mouthful of curry sauce. Such a silly complaint, but enough that I will never order here again.

Made order. Food arrived late as stated they were too busy. Chips caked in grease and raw, Rice has large burnt omelette eggs in them, noodles missing and all stone cold. Will never order from here again

Absolutely awful, avoid at all costs - I called the restaurant to complain as I believe I was given a mixed pork and chicken sweet and sour dish because there were grey pieces and white pieces. Loads of sauce and full of fat. The restaurant said they couldn’t do anything and haven’t had complaints before but obviously that isn’t true due to the reviews I’ve now seen online.

I really wanted Clayton House to be good as I live locally, but it is not. I’ve been twice, three weeks apart in the last month and was disappointed both times. First off they don’t take card payment so if you ignore these reviews at least take cash with you. As a family we’ve ordered the following, prawn toast and salt and pepper ribs which were ok. However, the chicken curry, sweet and sour chicken, and Chicken Kung Po were all substandard taste wise. Finally, the chips, forgotten from my order one time were also cold as they are decanted into a metal tray and left to sit out in the kitchen. I collected my order both times and was told when they should be ready, to arrive bang on time to then be kept waiting 10 to 15 minutes. All this said I’m mindful that the whole operation is run by a lady on her own, which is remarkable (hence two stars) but easy to understand why quality of service and product suffer as a result. Finally, if you don’t mind low quality food and poor service it is at least relatively cheap.
