I asked if the carrot cake had nuts in it because I'm allergic and they said no. Then given a cake with nuts in it. One staff member laughed and said I made her uncomfortable because I was unhappy and asking if they understood how serious this is that if I took a bite that would've killed me. She said I didn't specify that I had an allergy which I did, I specifically asked "does the carrot cake contain nuts? Traces is fine, it's just if it contains nuts?" N she took said I might've just not liked nuts. Laughing and not training your staff to be allergy aware is unprofessional and someone could end up dead. Not okay

I was looking forward to coming here as it was a place I'd been meaning to go for a while. My immediate first experience was a staff member shouting at me, she was incredibly rude and at the same time, another staff member just glared at me, giving me dirty looks. The girl who served me was lovely and the brownie and hot chocolate was nice. But because of those 2 staff members, I will never go here again and I don't recommend you do so either. There's no contact details for them, I was advised by Piece Hall to contact them via social media. I have via Facebook but no one has contacted me about this. Clearly that's why their staff think they can be rude to customers as they get away with it. But I will not be letting this go. They need to be held accountable. I suggest you spend your money elsewhere.

Went for breakfast, coffee and cake and it was absolutely worth it. Prime location in piece hall with outdoor seating, wonderful staff and customer service and delicious goods. Also quite affordable and a friendly ambience. Would definitely recommend! Is on lower ground floor next to library has wheelchair accessibility.

I feel like the reviews need a healthy dose of realism and balance. It's an absolutely delightful place to sit for refreshments in the heart of the Piece Hall. The service is excellent, especially considering that once a table departs it is immediately filled with another customer. I've been there on busy event days at the Piece Hall and man do the staff work hard to keep everyone fed and watered. They're always apologetic if they think service has been a little slow, but it isn't, you're just behind other people who ordered first. Cake is A+ cake. We come by multiple times a month for coffee and cake and it is always exceptional. Sizes aren't small at all and the price is no different to anywhere selling freshly made cakes of the variety sold here. Toasties here are also cheesy pieces of magnificence. How busy this place is is testament to how great it is. Otherwise, stop expecting instant gratification and appreciate some things in life are worth waiting (more than 3 minutes) for. Ps - only complaint is they once had a Snickers cake in 2021. It was glorious. I haven't seen it on the menu since, which is sub-optimal.

Lovely coffee and amazing food. Portion size was great, the grilled cheese was huge! Cake was lovely too, I will definitely be back and recommend to friends and family.

Great location! Sat in the sun. Agree with the other reviewers that service is incredibly slow. Took a while to get served and for my decaf latte and cake to arrive. The decaf latte was so lovely and a great size and nicely served in a coffee cup and saucer. The cake was nice but a really small slice for £3.50. Would I go back? Yes, but just for a drink as the location is great.

Nice location in the Piece Hall. Had cappuccino and cake. Unfortunately the coffee wasn't as hot as I would have liked. I did ask but she said it was already made and should be hot enough (it wasn't) My husband had the chocolate and raspberry cake and was disappointed as it was dry and not much raspberry flavour. My Victoria sponge looked lovely but unfortunately wasn't the nicest I have had. Maybe they had been sat all day and weren't that fresh? They also ask for payment before you have eaten which I don't like. Staff are friendly. Could improve in certain areas.
