Came here after a long time of wanting to visit and wish I’d come sooner! I really enjoyed my food, I ordered a variety of dishes out of excitement - the roti canai (w chicken), satay goreng, nasi lemak (w fried chicken) and kuey teow goreng (w prawns). Every single dish was delicious and so fresh. But my highlights were the roti canai - the rotis were so soft, fresh and flakey, and the curry was spot on in terms of flavour & depth. Also a big fan of the kuey teow goreng as I just really like flat style noodles and it was cooked so well & tasted really good. I had lots of leftovers so took these home which I’m looking forward to eating again tomorrow. But I’ll definitely be back! The cafe was fairly quiet when I visited but appreciated this. The staff were friendly and present. Highly recommend this great halal business.

Had soto here and it was absolutely amazing — the taste is even better than some places back home in Malaysia. The broth was rich and flavorful, the portion just right, and it really brought back that authentic Malaysian comfort food feeling. On top of that, the staff were really friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. For Malaysians visiting Coventry and craving a true taste of home, this is definitely the spot to go. It satisfies the Malaysian taste buds perfectly. Highly recommended!

Absolutely delicious! Ayam penyet – 5/5 Nasi ayam – 5/5 Karipap – 5/5 Ketayap – 5/5 Nasi kerabu – 4/5 (only because I personally prefer it with ayam bakar, but still very tasty!) The service was super quick, and the owner is lovely. Great food, authentic taste, and a warm vibe, perfect all around! The best Malaysian restaurant in the UK by far.

First visit — won’t be the last! A hidden Malaysian gem in Coventry. Honestly what a lovely introduction to Malay cuisine I'll definitely be back! Me and my best friend visited Warung by Evro Cafe on Corporation Street (Coventry) for the first time — and it was such a lovely experience from start to finish! As soon as we walked in, we were the first customers of the day and immediately noticed how bright, clean, and stylish the space was. The decor is modern and airy, with quirky artwork, cute little plants on the tables, and a crisp coffee bar and counter displaying desserts and pastries. It felt really fresh and welcoming. We were warmly greeted by Ezlyn, who served us throughout. She was incredibly friendly, kind, and helpful — she talked us through the menu and explained how to order when we were ready explaining the dishes and ultimately helping us choose. Her warmth really set the tone for the visit she was lovely. We started with the roti canai (£7.90) to share — two pieces of warm, buttery Malaysian-style paratha served with a chicken curry. Coming from a Pakistani background, I found it familiar yet totally unique in flavour, as we also have paratha and curries in our culture — but the spices and pairings here were very different in a lovely way. For both of us (my friend is Somali), it was still a new and great experience. The roti had the perfect crisp-buttery texture, and the curry was fragrant and gently spiced — comforting and delicious. My friend usually doesn’t enjoy overly spicy food, so the spice level throughout was ideal — fragrant and flavourful, but not overpowering. I’d describe it as mild to medium and really well-balanced. For drinks, we went for traditional Malaysian choices to get the full experience. My friend had the Sirap Special (£3.90) — a cold rose syrup drink with berry juice and ice. It was refreshing, lightly sweet, and pretty to look at too. I had the Sirap Bandung (£3.90) — a warm rose-flavoured drink made with condensed and evaporated milk. Slightly warm, creamy, and fragrant — absolutely perfect if, like me, you enjoy rose flavours. It was like a comforting, floral hug in a glass! For mains, we both ordered the Nasi Kerabu — a stunning platter featuring blue butterfly pea rice, dried mackerel mixed with shredded coconut, boiled egg, sambal, cucumber, bean sprout and chilli salad, prawn crackers, and fresh veg. I chose chicken rendang with mine (£13.90) — and it was the absolute star of the show. Deeply rich, aromatic, tender, and beautifully spiced. My friend went for the fried chicken option (£12.90) — crispy, juicy, and well-seasoned. Both dishes were visually beautiful, full of textures and vibrant flavours, and introduced us to a totally new way of enjoying rice dishes. The portion sizes were very generous, the food was thoughtfully prepared, and the whole experience felt really intentional and made with care. The total cost for everything came to £42.50, and we both felt it was excellent value for money for the quality and quantity of food we received. One of the loveliest touches is the photo wall filled with snapshots left by past guests — locals, international students, tourists from as far as Hong Kong. It gives the space a warm, inclusive, community feel. We even added our own photo — a memento of a beautiful Thursday spent over " good food and good company" - can't wait to see this addition to the board when we next visit. If you’re looking to try something new in Coventry — something flavourful, vibrant, and made with heart — Warung by Evro Cafe is the place. It’s a true hidden gem, and we’re already planning our next visit there are so many dishes I want to try including the various broths and noodle dishes and desserts are next on our list too-the banana fritters with ice cream sound delicious! I have really loved my introduction to Malaysian food and I can't wait to explore and learn more about this lovely cuisine- and it’s halal so big bonus!!! Thank you for a lovely experience and see you again soon.
