Went here with the family a few months ago after a nearby Lego event. Food was great, and the staff brilliant. Lovely lady who chatted to us, gave us some books for the kids, and made the kids feel at home with ride-on cars and a kitchen set they could play with outside. Then got an unexpected tour of the airfield so the kids (and us!) could see the planes up close.

Had a hot chocolate while i was waiting for my helicopter ride. Claudia ( the lady) is really helpful and friendly. Also generous. The atmosphere is nice..but bit noisy because of the flights. But it is fine..anyone who wants to enjoy the flights and rides can use this place as a viewing point too. There are toilets facilities are in the cafe. However they are not clean at all. So if they would be clean then it would be a great atmosphere for the cafe customers. Other than that, overall this is a good cafe..reasonable price. Tasty food and drinks.

I visited with my two children in hopes of seeing a couple of small planes. Turns out a Sunday is not the day for this, however our disappointment was short lived as we were welcomed by a friendly couple and some other customers and enjoyed a full English each. The food was absolutely brilliant and my boys loved it. I will definitely be returning though probably on a Saturday instead!

The toast had mould on it. One of our party got severe food poisoning from our visit. Reported to environmental health. Owner replied threatening to report review as he claimed no evidence of visit - so we added the photos of mould & receipt. Would have preferred to not post them and allow them to simply take on board that mistakes were made and perhaps apologise for the time off work from sickness that ensued.

Visited the The Light Apron today after an exciting trip to the midlands Air museum. Took two hungry children who were really impressed with the pizza and doorstop sandwiches. Brunch baps were fantastic with excellent fresh ingredients and perfect Egg yokes. We left feeling very full and enjoyed our visit. Staff are great and the place was clean and welcoming. Its like the Frying Pan at Gatwick, this is the place where the airfield staff and crews come for good food. Don't expect the Ritz do expect airfield building with excellent views and fantastic value food. Bonus for Shackleton and Nimrod that you can walk round and get very close to if you put in a high Vis and take a short walk. Will definitely be back!

What a hidden gem! We had such a friendly welcome which is saying something considering we were a group of 5 adults, 3 kids, a baby & a hyperactive Labrador. The full English breakfast was fantastic, I'd go back for that alone. There was a range of outdoor toys and plenty of space for the kids to run about which kept them occupied so we could enjoy aforementioned breakfast, all while watching the odd aircraft land and take off! Such an unusual setting but as long as the weather is fine then it's a fantastic spot.
