Absolutely unacceptable β blatant food safety negligence Visited The Red Lion in Coventry on a Monday lunchtime. The pub was completely empty, yet I still waited over 30 minutes to be served. There is no excuse for that alone. The starters were inedible. The battered mushrooms were frozen solid in the middle. After biting into one, I cut the rest open and every single one was the same. This shows a complete lack of basic kitchen checks. The main course was dangerous. I ordered grilled chicken and bit into it to find it raw in the centre. The attached photo shows exactly how undercooked it was. Serving raw chicken is not a mistake β itβs a serious breach of food safety that could make someone very ill. What makes this worse is the total lack of care shown afterwards. There was no urgency and no proper attempt to put things right. Despite being served frozen food and raw chicken, I was not fully refunded and still charged for 1 main and my drinks?!? I am due to go on holiday in two days, and the thought that eating here could leave me ill and ruin that trip is infuriating. An empty pub, excessive waiting time, frozen starters, raw chicken, and complete indifference when challenged. This experience was beyond poor β it was negligent. I will never return here for food again which is a shame as I have never had issues prior.

Came in to the red lion a couple of Sundays ago with my grandparents and siblings and it was brilliant we all have a great time. The atmosphere in the pub was friendly and warm and all the staff were on it. Big shout out to Jacob who was definitely my Nanβs favourite he was sure to make sure we were all happy with our food and made us feel so welcome and he absolutely smashed it with the drinks.

Iβm from Wales and visiting family here in Coventry. One had hunters chicken with all trimmings, another had steak with chips pepper sauce etc and the third person had the fish and chips etc. all meals were delicious everything cooked beautifully and staff were so polite and very helpful. The atmosphere was so lovely and being dog friendly is a plus. I will be recommending the red lion and definitely returning, thankyou for the lovely service.

The food wasn't bad as far as tasty. But portion sizes compared to the expensive prices they charge for the food and drink we're terrible. The adults meal I bought for my child was too small for him. So had to buy an extra (small) bowl of mash for another Β£2.99 the coca cola wasn't on tap so had to buy a can for Β£3.40.... I got barely a handful of chips with my meal. Not sure they could spare them tbh... not happy.

We visited for the very first time for our Christmas meal. What can I say, excellent food. Food was presented nice and hot. From the starter to the desert, it was all hand made right down to the custard for our desert. We will definitely be going back next year. Well done to the chef, the manager and staff. You did yourselves proud. βββββ

Consistently good quality food. Helpful staff. Real wood fire in autumn/winter. Good selection of drinks. Only down side is the pricing is a little steep compared to its competitors locally

I have eaten here a few times and its always been good . The meals are hot and service friendly. But yesterday the pub was cold with no heating on and both sets of double doors open. I can see why the restaurant was almost empty and the bar a couple of people in . Come on put a few Β£ in the meter winter coming.......

Great food, really tasty. A lot of room, big parking and nice, big garden. 4 stars only because they've forgot about my dessert and I had to ask for it twice. However I will definitely return.
