First off, I didn't have any food so I can't rate it. The service at the bar was fine but I was a bit surprised that my single vodka and tonic was £5. I mooched around the very busy bar area, Saturday night so expected it to be busy. In the rear there's a music venue with a stage. I watched a loud, chaotic, elderly three-piece rockabilly band playing what I guessed was mostly their own stuff. It was OK but everything sounded the bloomin' same! The enthusiastic audience ranged from a few mid-twenties rockabillies to very aged grey-haired older men and their partners. This must be a regular venue as there was merchandise on sale on a table at the rear and quite a few people were sporting shirts with band's logos. It reminded me of the 80s when the rockabilly scene was at its height. Not quite the Clarendon in Hammersmith but, well, "you know if you know". It was quite good fun so I'll go back if I hear of any other bands playing.

I’ve been going to the George for numerous years now and have never had a complaint. All of the bar staff are always friendly and helpful, serving with a smile. Would highly recommend heading there, especially when the sport is on as the atmosphere is buzzing!!

This place no longer serves food and there's usually only two very rude regulars that laugh at people if you go in. The atmosphere is very dead and hostile. My last experience with this place was when I was on my way home, I began to feel faint, as I have a fainting condition, I went in to sit down for a few minutes. I was there for under 3 minutes before the owner was banging on my table with his FIST and threatening to kick me out, I was not well enough to explain why I was there and that I was going to buy a drink in a second I just had to sit down but he continued to threaten me and say he was going to call the police. The two locals in the pub laughed at me and jeered while the landlord defended them. Absolutely despicable way to treat probably the only customer under 70 they've had in months.

An absolute gem in Cathays and Cardiff! Great venue, amazing vibe and good price value. Our absolute favourite. The venue is clean and smells amazing, the toilets are in pristine condition. Absolute delight spending time at the Royal George - it never disappoints. Earlier this evening we spent time at the Juno lounge which had balls of fur and dust floating around on the stairs, next to nothing service, mediocre food and overpriced drinks so we moved to the Royal George. This place never disappoints! Also a very nice outside area!

Comfy, warm, welcoming and never packed. The perfect place to grab a drink with freinds and as far as the quick pub grub goes, it's pretty decent!

Reasonably good pub, friendly staff, reasonable prices but they don't have a great selection of craft beer. Haven't tried any food there, so don't even know if they do any. I would definitely go back to the place of I was around the area...there's not a big selection of pubs around though.

A passable pub with typical bland student decor. Quite bad coffee. Usually just nip in for a token glass of something to use the bathroom facilities.

Nice and cheap but we decided to order food. Here is a photo of the chicken platter with bits of charcoal that they called buffalo chicken wings. 2 friends had burgers that they were not impressed by as well but the guy who had the rump steak said he enjoyed it. It's ok for a cheap drink but I wouldn't recommend the food there.

Looks a lovely pub. Drove past many times. Does not look like there is any parking facilities. Hopefully one day when I retire I can give a thorough review of what its like inside. Theres never any loud music playing when passing. Drink prices look good.
