   I would avoid at all costs!! Booked a haircut for my daughter today. We arrived early and the attitude the owner had was absolutely shocking. Immediately as we walked in she pulled a face, I don’t know if that is due to the colour of our skin. From reading previous reviews this place clearly has a track record of racism.

   Hi everyone, I do not normally do this. But due to my EXPERIENCE and the RACISM I had encountered on a day where I thought I was going for a haircut and a lovely day out with my sisters made me create a Facebook account just to post about my experience at Jane Hair. I went to Jane Hair on 3rd February, as I was returning to work on Monday so wanted a haircut for my day back. Unfortunately I was running late, so one of my sisters went there before me and had let Jane know that myself and my other sister would be late. She also apologised to her at the time. I got there, 25-30 minutes late. She was still finishing off another haircut, an elderly lady (This customer of Jane’s is important for this experience as well) and another one of Jane’s employees was washing my sisters hair at the time. So, she was actually running behind schedule herself. I entered and as you do, apologised and I was very apologetic. Jane did not respond and after a few minutes passed said ‘ you people are always late’ ‘ you south Asians’ I was shocked at the time so did not respond and laughed it off (I wish I did not do this, and actually responded to her then and there) The elderly customer Jane was still working on then said ‘ if you don’t like what you hear then get out’. I was still sat there shocked as I was unsure what she meant as I did not respond to their initial racist remark. They then began making inside jokes, and at this time me and my sisters were shocked beyond words, we had never experienced anything like this before. So, then she asked us which one of us was next to have our hair washed, so, now she was working on my sister who was early for her and started cutting her hair 40 minutes later. So SHE was running late herself. I told her my sisters name, to which she began to mock my sisters name and responded as though she didn’t hear and said ‘sally’ ‘sanitiser’ ‘hand sanitiser’ and then the elderly customer of hers said ‘hahaha I won’t say what I want to say it’ll get me in trouble’ (referencing another racist remark she would make). After this, I could not take it anymore and I told her she’s being racist, and she has been racist since we entered, to which she then came up to my face and screamed at my face ‘ shut up this is my shop’ my little sister then told her ‘ do not tell my sister to shut up’. I continued telling her she was being racist, to which she responded ‘ I have south Asian customers, don’t say that, we are not racist’ I then told her, because no one has told you, you are racist, does not mean you are not racist’ I told her I work with patients of different races and some are late and some are early. I would never go to my patients and make a generalisation on a race, especially if I am the one providing a service. I then left with my sister and thankfully we booked another hair appointment straight away. I told this hairdresser my experience and a few colleagues and friends who told me to put this experience on Facebook. I have heard that others too have also heard Jane say remarks like ‘ there are too many black people around now, anywhere you go, you see them’ and also this is not the first time she has generalised Asians as being late. After this, I left but due to my sister still Having her hair wet she stayed and that is when Jane proceeded to tell her how her daughter is a police officer- as a scare. I wanted to put my experience out there, just so no one else has to experience what myself and my sisters had to go through!

   Absolutely disappointed with the service. It felt like they were experimenting on my hair. Took me 6 years to grow back the hair they burnt after their experiment. Never ever going back neither will recommend anyone. Had been commented on my athletic by Jane , unprofessional, unprofessional, unprofessional.
