Whilst I never had a problem with dental treatment, a few years ago I developed a real phobia of the dentist. I have to say that if, like me, you have bad anxiety then Dr Sam Aboalkaz is so good. His manner is so calm and reassuring. I will be utterly honest - I didnβt even feel the numbing injection this time. He regularly checked I was ok during the procedure (which took over an hour) & told me what he was doing. Visiting the dentist will never be my favourite thing to do but Dr Aboalkaz made it so much more bearable - thank you!

Before coming to Six Gables I suffered from extreme anxiety and distress when attending dental appointments. Since meeting Andrew Gardner, he has transformed the experience into an enjoyable and fun one. I was a patient of Andrew's for 15 years until I moved to London and had to transfer to a local practice. My experience at that practice was terrible, with them forcing expensive and unnecessary treatments on me and I now travel back to Cardiff for my dental treatment as no one compares to Andrew! Andrew prioritises patient care over everything and works hard to see me at very short notice.

I recently had my first dental appointment at the clinic, due to some pain in my teeth when brushing and flossing. I was really anxious, as I've always been scared to go to the dentist due to previous bad experiences and also because I'm autistic and the dentist usually leads to severe sensory overload. Sam Aboalkaz is great, he made me feel calm whilst he inspected my teeth and explained what was going on with my teeth in a way I could understand and answered all my questions. He was really approachable and honest and he minimised any instances that could have lead to sensory overwhelm. I highly recommend Sam as a dentist, he has great attention to detail , is a really honest person and he really cares about his patients and their comfort.

Got assigned here for an emergency appointment, and left in more pain and embarrassment then I came in with. The dentist was horrible and spoke to me in such a huff as if I was an inconvenience to his day (not my fault they accept emergency appointments), he looked at me for a grand total of 5 minutes and made me feel horrible about my issues and the fact my regular dentist was overbooked. He put in a quick filling that was like chalk and is so obviously discoloured to the rest of my teeth that I actually now feel embarrassed to even open my mouth. It seems unless you are a customer paying Β£200+ you wonβt be treated with any shred of dignity here. I suffer with a a lot of anxiety and going to the dentists is always nerve wracking for me and I think this experience has genuinely worsened that. Would NOT recommend.

Completely wasted my time and money. Last month I called Six Gables to say I had been recommended them by two colleagues who had teeth whitening and bonding and I wanted to arrange the same for myself. I was booked in for an appointment 1 month later, charged Β£100 and informed this would come off the cost of any future treatment. Yesterday I attended my appointment. The dentist was very friendly but had absolutely no idea what I was there for and proceeded to conduct a thorough check of my mouth including x-rays. I thought this was all part of the process before we discussed my cosmetic requirements but that was it - that was the end of the appointment. I asked about the bonding and whitening and was told we could discuss that at a second appointment, which I should book with reception as well as an appointment with the hygienist. No one had communicated to the dentist the reason for my visit. I thought that seeing as I was already there and had already paid them some money, I would see if I could get booked in quickly for a second appointment. I was able to book the hygienist appointment for the following week and tried to book a second appointment with the dentist but couldnβt get one until at least March. I work most weekends so have plenty of week days off. I went through loads of weekdays that I could do, all of which were fully booked or a day the dentist didnβt work until I realised that I was wasting my time. The point is that I already have a dentist and hygienist that I am very happy with but I was visiting Six Gables for a particular treatment. A point that was completely ignored by all the staff at this practice. No one there listens or cares, a point that was proven this morning when I courteously called to cancel my hygienist appointment. The receptionist asked if I wanted to reschedule, to which I answered no. I then asked that my information be removed from the system as I wonβt be using them again. Do you think she cared why? She didnβt even ask. To put in to stark contrast how poor the service is from this practice, I have phoned my regular dentist this morning and have an appointment tomorrow morning to discuss the cosmetic work I require. I wish I had done that in the first place rather than wasting my time and money with Six Gables.

Iβm a life-long patient of Six Gables Dental Practice and cannot speak more highly of the service they provide. Rhys Thomas is an excellent dentist who takes the time to ensure all patient needs are met. When a vital tooth could no longer be saved Rhys ensured I knew all of my options going forward. When I decided on a dental implant, Andy Gardiner was the only man for the job. The whole process was exceptionally smooth and delivered with absolute professionalism and humour. Iβm completely thrilled with the results and would not hesitate to recommend Six Gables for routine or private work. Thanks to the whole team.

I never dreamt I would end up enjoying going to the dentist but after being with six Gables for over ten years I actually do. They are friendly and courteous and my teeth feel and look great now thanks to their dedication and professionalism. I am not wealthy but it is a great comfort to know that I am able to get the BEST treatment available at a very affordable price. I will always be grateful for that and I am fully convinced that every minute I spend there adds a years to how long I can keep my pearly whites

I have been with Six Gables Practice for 35 years, even though I no longer live in the Whitchurch area, I wouldnβt go anywhere else. No one loves visiting the dentist β¦but here they really do offer calm, friendly, excellent dental care making the whole experience as painless and as pleasant as possible. They will also always do their best to help in an emergency. Can highly recommend.

I have been a patient of Huw Bowen's at Six Gables for about 18 years, and have always received excellent dental care there. The staff at reception are always friendly and helpful, and Mr Bowen is thorough and gentle (so important in a dentist!). I am never nervous about going there, as he and his nurse always make me feel at ease. During the pandemic I had a problem which worried me, but was hesitant as I did not want to bother them. In the end I phoned, and got an appointment very soon afterwards. I was given the same care & attention as ever. I would not go anywhere else!
