   One member of staff actively working stock meanwhile two are over in the corner, out of view of the unmanned tills, chatting. After waiting several minutes at the tills one the chatters finally comes to the till stating "it's just this till". No apology for the wait or anything. Said member of staff then proceeds to ask "is this yours as well" when a customer had placed down two items. How do you lack the awareness to see someone put down just two items on the till. Never mind the fact that the next customer has their arms full of their shopping because the tills in this store are so incredibly poorly designed. Finally, to the same customer, this member of staff proceeds to aggressively state "there's no need to be rude and roll your eyes". This wouldn't even be a possible issue had she done her job to the absolute bare minimum requirement. Genuinely never had a good experience in this store but this member of staff is really pushing the boundaries of poor service.

   Good range of products at good prices. However staff seem more interested in having childish little jokes amongst themselves than serving customers. Some of them are quite ignorant.

   I absolutely LOVE this shop !! It's really extended its range so all the fresh and frozen you could wish for. I've been an avid Big Brand supermarket shopper for years and still use them as they've some products and an excellent money saving app which I use to buy with on every visit but have Heron Food upped their game or what ?? I've worked in catering off and on for years so think I know my food and was also employed as the Kitchen Manager of a local and very busy café so think I know my food !! I love cooking in all it's forms and am getting far more adventurous with what I buy and also eat especially now I've got the time to do this plus I've been Pescatarian for over 30 years so my choice going back years was far more limited than it is now. I always used to batch cook when my daughter was at school as I worked full time so a frozen meal straight from the freezer not only saves you time but you know exactly what's gone into it and don't need to get 2 portions of ready made or chilled for one of our bitter winter nights. They don't close until 7pm, have excellent reductions if you're in there at the right time and the most helpful staff ever, they've been brilliant EVERY time I've been in and are a really amusing team to chat to from the moaning till lad to the Manager. I said I'd sack him if he was mine and he actually looked hopeful but I think it's a bit of a standing joke between them !! If they were mine I'd double all of their salaries because they do get some awkward customers, work long hours and do everything from shelf filling, till to cleaning the whole shop properly after working a long & hard day. Thank you for a brilliant choice, excellent prices and Salt O' the Earth staff !! Marks out of 10 ?? A very easy 15 :-))

   Herons is a great little store. Stocks some foods on a regular basis but there are always some surprises. Unusual items that you wouldn't see elsewhere. The prices are very competitive and the staff at the Halifax branch are very friendly. The manager is very helpful indeed.
