I had a haircut with Harriet and couldn’t be happier with the experience. She was incredibly welcoming and friendly from the moment I walked in, which instantly put me at ease. She took the time to listen to what I wanted, offered helpful suggestions, and delivered a result I absolutely love. I’ll definitely be coming back

Lovely salon which is pricey but in my opinion you get what you pay for. I am always happy with my colour and cut and can highly recommend Amanda and Stefan. The reception staff are always friendly, welcoming and helpful too.

I love Ken picton salon! The service is always amazing, the girls on the desk are always so welcoming! I enjoy my cappuccino on arrival and of course the bouncy blow dries that I get 2/3 times monthly xx

My mother has been going here for 17 years and is completely shocked at the lack of customer service. My 18th Birthday present from her (cut and highlights) was cancelled on the day. They made no attempt to make up for this other than offering to cut my hair without the dye and said they had no power to do anything else. Surely some money off or any equivalent would have been appreciated. A deposit is put down on some appointments and if you cancel on the day you lose that money, does this not go both ways? A man hairdresser came down and with his hand on his hip and was aggressive from the second he saw us. I was so shocked that a ‘professional’ could talk to a younger girl this way without even hearing our side of the story first. I am not usually one to write long angry paragraphs but I was so upset that this was happening a few hours before my 18th party and couldn’t understand why they didn’t see the need to make up for the lost appointment. They kept saying things like ‘what you want someone to come in who’s ill?’ Of course not, we would just like it to be made up for with some attempt. The owner Ken agreed that nothing should be done and that was it. I have been to Ken Picton a few times because it’s nice to spend time with my mum but i’ve honestly never had a good experience. I spent £200 to have my hair permanently straightened and i was not spoken to once for the whole 4ish hours appointment. It was honestly embarrassing. Both my mother and I as loyal customers will never be returning. I am truly shocked and hurt by it all.

I came to this salon looking for one that was accessible for my powered wheelchair as many I have tried before were not at all. The door was level access, and quite wide, did have a little awkward turn but it was fine. The hair wash basin chairs remove from the sinks, so if you cannot transfer into their chairs, you could probably get your hair washed in your wheelchair (this was made easier because my chair tilts back). The staff were very welcoming, friendly and inclusive. Nothing was too much trouble. It was fairly easy to park nearby as in Mermaid quay. I felt like I was treated like any other customer and loved my hair cut and colour. I would definitely recommend this salon, on accessibility and staff very experienced.

First time going there. My mom, sister, and myself had appointments and we are all incredibly pleased. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly, making sure to listen to what we wanted and needed and doing their best to meet those expectations. My mom had her hair colored with highlights and it looks incredible, exactly how she wanted it. With her hair being naturally dark, most salons seem to be unable to achieve the look and color she wants, but she came out of Ken Picton very happy. Me and my sister had our hair cut and the hairstylist was absolutely brilliant. I went in not knowing exactly what I wanted just that I wanted to change my look and I can say I am very happy with it. The stylist took her time and listened and even told me how to properly style it as my hair can be very unruly and difficult. We will all be going back for our next haircuts, it was a great experience.

I came here twice for highlights, the first time the highlights were so fine and sparse people didn’t realise I’d had my hair done. I did return a second time this week after thinking perhaps I wasn’t strong enough on what I wanted. After being explicitly clear about how I wanted it to look, it was quite blonde and I left feeling quite happy. After getting home I was immediately told by my partner that big sections on the back of my head had been completely missed. I emailed them photos and after four days they replied and I was told that putting in highlights is a “gradual process” and we had discussed “scattering them in” we had not and the this is frankly ridiculous as the issue is only on the back of my head. I’ve been having my hair highlighted for 19 years, this is missed sections, also if this is correct why are the front and sides fully dyed? I emailed as I thought that they should be aware and was going to just not return, but to not even apologise and claim that this is correct is just horrendous, especially after spending almost £400 here. I enjoyed reading the high reviews about how you get free drinks, they’re not free they’re subsidised by the high prices, I’d rather have the full head of highlights I’ve paid for twice than a free cup of tea. Avoid and go somewhere that cares.
