I returned to this company because, frankly, they've never let me down. They're always so helpful. You just tell them what you're after, describe your project or your workshop, and they'll recommend the right machine and help you pick the best one. I definitely recommend them.
I bought a Charnwood universal stand in Dec 23, it has a couple of fixing brackets for your mitre saw or other machinery to be mounted, and Charnwood rightly stated how useful it is to be able to just buy more brackets for this stand and fix them to other machines for easy mounting, rather than having to remove and refix a set of brackets every time you change the machine to go on the stand. Here we are, only 8 months later, and they have discontinued not only the stand, but the brackets. If they had advised that the product was going to be discontinued in Jan 24, when selling these in Dec 23, I would have been aware of the fact that it is now next to useless for my other machines to be mounted. It is a Charnwood in-house brand, which makes it all the more frustrating that they carry no spares or parts after discontinuing.
I'm new to woodturning. Bought an item at the Newark show which I had a very minor hiccup with. Emailed customer service and the response from Alex couldn't have been any quicker and more helpful. Problem sorted swiftly, and way better than I expected. It's this sort of attentiveness and willing to sort things out on what was a relatively low value item that will keep me shopping with Charnwood in future. Many thanks !
Met Charlie from the team at Midland Woodworking Show 2023, who took his time to talk me through the W824 midi lathe. Knows his stuff and how to treat customers well. Bought a machine of them which broke after 10 min, only did some testing pieces, send it back after 3 days and Charnwood is charging £270 restocking fee for thier useless machine. They also let the engineers deal with product issues and not someone who has got responsibility to take and decisions. This was definitely the first and the last product me and anyone I know has brought with this brand on. Please keep the £270 Iwe definitely don't want anything back from you.
Excellent customer service with good parking too
They have a showroom but no staff never showed an interest in coming to speak with you. Poor service. And when they do they are miserable. I wanted to purchase a shop vac. Asked the price and it was £30 more than the same product “ they make “ from another shop. When asking why they said “ they buy in bulk from us so can sell them cheaper than we sell them “ lol. Recently found Axminster in Nuneaton yes a longer travel distance but they show an interest and help unlike this dump
