   Right. Everyone who is leaving 1 star reviews need to get a life! I shop here all the time and I have never had an issue. So do everyone a favour and cut the staff members some slack! Its not their fault if you cant take money off your nectar points and certainly not their fault if you leave your christmas shopping the last minute! They try their very best to make sure you get what you want and they don't need rude obnoxious people like you lot constantly bringing them down! They dont go to work to be harassed, to be constantly had a go at and be bullied! They are trying to do their jobs! So if for some reason you dont like it. Go and shop somewhere else! So if any staff member reads this. Don't let these reviews get to you. You're all great at your jobs!

   Probably the most poorly managed Sainsbury's in the country. I don't blame the workers but whoever manages them is entirely incompetent. They don't seem to grasp that even with a self checkout, you still need a member of staff around for things like alcohol, cash payments, malfunctions or plastic bags. Somehow they don't get the hint from the exasperated customers' faces after having to wait for 10 minutes for a staff member to appear. You'd think the whole supermarket thing would be pretty solved after 80 or so years of existing, but this Sainsbury's finds innovative ways to cause anguish to as many customers as possible.

   This store advertises that it closes at 11:00 pm, however at 10:45 pm last night I tried to quickly pop in to buy a single item. There were still customers inside paying at the tills, so the store was clearly not closed yet. A male member of staff was preparing the gates and shutters, and when I politely asked if I could quickly run in, I was told, “Sorry, we’re closing.” I explained that the store doesn’t close until 11 pm and that there were still 15 minutes left. He replied, “Oh well, we’re closing early tonight,” and shut the door. The interaction was rude and disrespectful. If the store is closing earlier than advertised, this should be clearly communicated to customers. Very disappointing.

   I honestly cannot believe how unbelievably bad the service is at this Sainsbury’s. In my 20 years of living in Penarth, I have never come across staff who seem this uninterested, unhelpful, and downright dismissive. I walk in and it feels like I’m bothering them simply by existing. Whenever I need help with scanning, I don’t just get ignored - I get flat-out refused. They just tell me to “use self-service,” as if helping a customer is the most outrageous request they could possibly receive. No effort, no courtesy, nothing. And the attitude is absolutely unbelievable. They stand around chatting to each other through their headsets, completely blanking the people right in front of them. Just cold stares and fed-up expressions like serving customers is some intolerable burden. While their behaviour might reflect their own personal attitudes, it absolutely shouldn’t be reflecting on the store as a whole. It genuinely feels like not a single one of them wants to be there, and they make sure customers feel that. Every visit leaves me frustrated and unwelcome. From my perspective, the manager must have no idea this is happening, because there’s no way this level of rudeness and indifference should be normal in any store. At this point, walking into this Sainsbury’s feels like setting myself up for irritation. It’s genuinely some of the worst customer service I’ve ever dealt with.

   Tried to purchase a bottle of security tagged wine as I approached the till one worker walked away...I noticed another employee arranging price tags on the shelves whilst discussing her shoes through her headset. Made eye contact twice and then politely asked if we could be served...also then noticed original server putting out the reduced items..was told by the arranger of the price tags "sorry you'll have wait we are very busy " to which I said ill try somewhere else and then told " that's fine you do that" UNBELIEVABLE

   Note to staff when I come in and ask for a certain brand off cigarettes and you can't find them which is ok,but don't accuse me of lying and say I'm making it up which I find funny ,and them you find them which made my day,but if you must slag me off remember I can hear you behind your scree,I wasn't rude but you definitely were

   Good range for a local store, staff helpful and friendly and the shop is well presented. Using the scan and shop app they have makes it a really quick experience. Occasionally a wait for the checkout but usually it is quick.

   Tonight I went into Sainsbury's in Penarth at about 10pm to buy some cider and some cigarettes. The man behind the counter, without looking up, asked me for ID before even saying hello and proceded to elaborate that this was because I looked "about 12." I'm sure you can imagine how surprisingly unprofessional this seemed and offensive considering I am 27, nearly 28! I know they have to check ID for people who look under 25 and that's not a problem, no issue with being ID'd, but I DO have a problem with a complete stranger informing me I look about 15 years younger than I am. Absolutely disgraceful customer service. God if I said that to a customer in my job I wouldn't have one for long!
