The worst hotel I have ever visited. The room was dirty, the breakfast was terrible with food that was cold and completely inedible. We also had afternoon tea, which was just as bad—stale cakes and scones, and we even found plastic in one of the sandwiches. Had to wear our coats to breakfast and afternoon tea as it was so cold. Complained and not even an apology. This stay was meant to be a gift for our wedding anniversary, and instead it left us upset and disappointed. Such a beautiful town, ruined by an awful hotel experience. I would not recommend this place to anyone

In fact my stay at this hotel is booked by others for a volunteer activity. Due to the reason of limited staff (as stated by others at previous post), it is advised to contact hotel by phone in order to book check-in 24 hours before arrival and discuss for any special need, like parking bicycle or return late. To my surprise, I always meet staffs at front desk instead. The check-in process is simple and accommodation requirements are met well. The restaurant is near and the complimentary continental breakfast is a good choice during stay. You can’t find supermarket or restaurant within few-minute walking distance. The room environment is clean and quiet, equipped with free Wifi service. However it has no USB charging port is found. The hotel lobby and library is classical and set originally (more than few decades ago), and worthwhile to stay and have a look.

I actually liked this hotel, good location with a nice little village around it, some nice pubs and restaurants right on the doorstep. When I checked in and went to my room I noticed the bathroom tap wasn’t working, I reported this to reception and to my surprise they said they were aware of the issue, I asked them to fix it for me and went out for the evening, when I returned the tap was still broken and no one was available on reception. The following morning I also had no hot water for a shower, again reported it to reception but wasn’t offered any form of fix or apology. Such a same because it’s a nice hotel in a lovely part of the country. The car park is great, but very poorly lit.

Very little staff working, have to a ring a bell and took well up to 5 minutes for someone to come. Got a room, none of the plugs were working so then had to go to reception, they gave us a different room and none of the plugs were working either so had to suffer with no way to charge phones, no heating, no kettle and no hairdryer through the stay. Was forced to charge my electronics in the reception area. Do have to say beds were pretty comfy and the staff were very nice. Finally the breakfast was very reasonably priced at £5 for a full English, however this was shown through through the quality of it with the egg being hard and cold, the tomatoes, mushrooms and bacon also being cold and the only things being hot were the sausages and hash brown. Was a lovely area and a relatively nice hotel, just a shame that the services of the hotel could not provide what was required.

On arrival we were given our room keys and, on first appearances the room appeared sufficient for our needs. We booked it because of the reviews and the close proximity to a venue we were attending a function at, even though it was higher priced. On leaving the room in the evening, I asked reception for some milk so I could make coffee on our return that night. I was given 2 tubular sachets and was told 'that's all there is on the whole site'. As the sachets are so tiny, I need 3 to make a palatable drink. No mention of getting me any from their kitchen (which is nearby as they serve breakfasts!). Very disappointing. On going to bed and pulling back the duvet, I noticed there was a mattress protector but on closer inspection that was extremely heavily stained! My travelling companion said that was the same in his room. That is really inexcusable. The bed itself was rock hard and uncomfortable so I ended up sleeping on top of the duvet. In the morning the lack of milk meant I could only have half a cup of coffee. Generally a very uncomfortable night and certainly dont feel it was worth the price paid.

From the second I walked in was greeted by a warm and friendly member of staff who has been excellent throughout. The hotel has an excellent feel to it, the grounds are beautiful rooms comfortable and clean. All the staff have been very helpful and friendly. Have really enjoyed my stay. Hope an opportunity arises whereby I get to visit again.

Spent one night here and have no complaints. The room was clean and comfortable and the food was satisfactory tho the choice was very minimal and basic. What a beautiful location, on the river side.

Lovely building and staff were very friendly but rooms were in need of renovating. Heating not working and some mold in bathroom. The cooked breakfast very disappointing. Looked like it had been cooked well but we ate just after 9am and everything was cold. Expected better for price paid.

The rooms were cold as was the whole hotel. The shower head was so filthy the water soaked the bathroom floor. The hotel is very dated. The breakfast was cold had to get it microwaved. Ordered a sandwich which cost £7 each was 2 slices of bread each with ham salad and a couple of crisps. Would not stay again

outside of building looks like a 4 star hotel especially with the views by the lake. unfortunately the beds in the twin rooms are not so good. need better beds for the quality of the hotel it claims to be. breakfast is great and the staff are very helpful and friendly. plus the air con during hot season is not very good.
