Stayed here with work. Very small room, bed was not the best. Fan in the room was covered in thick dust which would have covered the room. Poor shower. Service booking in was great but disappointed by not really being able to eat there in the evening. The breakfast in the morning was very disappointing. It's a shame as the area looked great and had some nice places.

Awful. Booked an "accessible" room in error. The room was dark and dingy with a busy noisy road running next to the window. Furniture was dated and nothing like the rooms pictured on the website. Room stunk of disinfectant coming from the bathroom and generally depressing. Asked if we could change rooms but was told fully booked and they really couldn't care less. So I handed the keys back and left. Still charged full price for the night. Sent an email complaining about the state of the room but no reply.

Disappointed to say the least, from the attitude of staff whilst trying to park, 25% of the dinner menu not available, wait time for food and between courses excessive, some aspects of food cold when served (mushy peas) cod looked a good size but it was actually a mass of batter and very little fish. I asked what real ales they had, we only have Green King IPA was the response, do you have a bottle of Newcastle B A, oh, do people still drink that. I got the impression the place was about to close down and it is not cheap. Don't waste your money, better food at McDonalds

It's a nice country hotel with a restaurant and bar area. I spent 3 days here which I enjoyed. My room was nice and clean apart from the odd squeaky floorboard. I did go there on a pretty hot week and the room was hot as I had no AC in my room. The breakfast and dinner food were nice and the staff on-site were friendly and helpful too. There's a car park at the rear of the hotel and you need to register your car at reception on a tablet/ipad.

I donβt know why they have a hotel. Itβs not serviced properly, you need to hunt someone down for any support. The rooms were unbelievably hot, we had to be moved as couldnβt breathe. The new rooms were better but still very hot. Itβs not their fault that thereβs a heatwave but then you need to prepare accordingly. A tiny fan and windows that donβt open isnβt good enough. There was no chef for breakfast, and one poor girl was trying to serve all the tables and manage checkout. (She was great and very apologetic). Rooms are tired. Considering the number of rooms they have, itβs surprising that more care is not taken. I wouldnβt stay again.

Really enjoyed our stay here, shame it was only for 1 night (will just have to go back again!). It's a historic building, so the staircase is quite steep & the room was not spacious however there are plenty of original features such as exposed wooden beams & walls that are not straight. It maintains it's genuine "ye olde" charm whilst having modern facilities. Staff were really friendly & helpful too. Highly recommended!
