I have been registered at Redlands Surgery for many years, and I am writing to formally complain about the way I was spoken to by a receptionist on 17/12/2025 at approximately 9:00am. I can honestly say I have never been spoken to in such a disrespectful, dismissive, and condescending manner in any professional setting. The tone used was rude, patronising, and completely inappropriate. I was spoken to as though I were incapable of understanding basic information, which was both insulting and unacceptable. This individual showed no professionalism whatsoever. There was no attempt to be helpful, courteous, or respectful. Instead, the interaction felt hostile and belittling, particularly concerning given that patients contact the surgery for medical support, often under stress or vulnerability. What makes this more concerning is that this is not an isolated incident. I have experienced similar treatment from reception staff on previous occasions, which suggests a wider issue with standards of conduct rather than a one-off lapse. Reception staff are the first point of contact for patients and represent the surgery as a whole. Being spoken to in this manner falls far below what should be expected from a GP practice and reflects poorly on Redlands Surgery.

Never have an issue getting an appointment at 8am. The range of doctors I have seen have been helpful and professional. The email system for prescriptions and requesting non-urgent appointments is extremely helpful.

I just want to thank the staff at Redlands Road Surgery. The phone was answered within 10 minutes when I rang Monday morning. The receptionist was kind and polite. I was given a Dr's appointment that morning and everything was sorted out for me by lunchtime. That's what I call excellent service. Thanks very much again to everyone.

I have been registered with this Doctors Surgery for most of my adult life and I am now in my late forties. I was always more than happy with them until the last 6 years it has gone drastically down hill. Whenever you phone or visit the receptionist are rude and unhelpful, you are made to feel like you are bothering them. After a number of issues trying to get repeat prescriptions and appointments I have come to the conclusion that Redlands Surgery does not want to see or help their patients. I would like to stress that the Doctors in this surgery have been always been great but trying to get through the receptionists to see a Doctor is now becoming virtually impossible. So today I have decided to register with another Doctors Surgery, one that wants to see their patients and that has receptionist that actually care!

This practice surpasses most local surgical facilities in appointment scheduling and telephone responsiveness. Receptionists are courteous and professional, maintaining appropriate boundaries. The physicians provide exceptional care, consistently exceeding patient expectations. I am highly satisfied with this practice and pleased to be a registered patient.

It's almost impossible to see a doctor at this practice. The first appointment they could offer me yesterday was a phone consultation on 21 December; they refused to let me see a doctor face-to-face. I simply despair.

Can only get an appointment if the issue you're experiencing is labelled 'an emergency'. Otherwise they don't take you seriously and you enter a process of being asked to call back the following day again and again. Excellent nurses and Doctors when you do get seen but the way the practice is being run with receptionists needs to be reviewed. Patients need to be treated with: Kindness, Dignity and Respect. And this is not happening when you call up. Staff are rude, confrontational and talk over you. They do their utmost to make you reconsider if you really do need to see a Doctor. I have sent a detailed complaint letter to the practice manager as this is absolutely disgusting and is a totally unacceptable way to run a surgery in 2022. I hope my experience was a one off. Edit: Had an apology from the Doctor as this was regarding one receptionist in particular. 1500 extra patients have been added to Redlands recently and they have 2 of the 4 doctors they normally have. I have changed to 3 stars rating as I believe they are a good surgery that is overwhelmed at present. My complaint is only about appointments and interaction with receptionists. The actual care you get from the nurses and Doctors is excellent. 5 stars when and if that gets back to where it should be!

Just called and was one of the first few to call at 8:30 on the dot. Was my turn to get a answer and the receptionist hung up on me. Only for me to wait another 40 minutes and be told that all slots had been taken. I dont usually leave negative reviews but this feels very unfair and the staff didn't even care that this came as a result of their fault, not mine. I know this isn't a problem exclusive to redlands but the fact it happens at all is disgusting.

Very friendly practice, every interaction I have had with both clinical and reception staff has been a pleasant experience. Every single time I've rung at opening time I've been able to get an appointment on the day. Thankyou for your hard work.

Literally impossible to get an appointment. After a week of phoning daily for a week. I called again today to find I was 48 th in the queue! I called at the end of the day and was told by the receptionist that I either had to wait a month or get my husband or friend to sit on the call for me in the morning. ( impossible for me to do with my job) Phoned 111 to see if we could by pass the surgery, who said we had to go through the surgery referral for an x ray. Going to change surgery’s to one which might actually enable me to see a doctor.
