As a long-time Mavs goer, as I was looking forward to another classic evening of 80s bopping on the top floor (the music on the bottom floor is unlistenable), having paid our 4 pounds to get in, my friends and I made a B-line upstairs, with "uptown girl" and "come on Eileen" upon the mind. Only to find that when we got upstairs, we were told that we needed a band to enter and that there was to be no 80s music on tonight. At no point in the queue or during the ticket purchase were we told about the so-called event going on upstairs, as they knew full well we wouldn't ve gone in if we knew. Given that Mavericks advertises itself as an 80s lounge, everyone goes in the knowledge they will hear some 80s music- and this was a deliberate attempt to lure us in and rip us off. We marched out immediately, having not heard a single 80s song. They have lost a valuable customer, as I won't be returning again, and I can't recommend anyone else does either.

Maya the manager is one of the kindest people on earth and this is one of my all time favourite clubs in Huddersfield. The value for drinks is amazing and the music is always spot on. I would recommend to anyone looking for a nice night out

Absolutely diabolical place! Bouncers are shocking. All in one night one of our friends was touched inappropriately by a male. Bouncers were told and the male was asked to leave then was allowed back in. Another was pushed by a bouncer and was laughed at when she fell and hit her head. Bouncers were encouraging multiple males to jump a male outside which resulted in an ambulance being called as the man was coughing up blood. Asked for security number of the bouncers and they proceeded to slap phones out of hands. Would never ever return, especially if your female you are not safe here.

Went on a night out there on Saturday. Reason for 1 star food is they don't sell food. Apart from that, it's a really good night out! We went top floor for the majority of the night, there's a bar downstairs and upstairs. Dance floor is a nice size and there's plenty if seats and booths to sit down if you wish too. There's a way down to the smoking area from upstairs without having to go.down and through the bottom floor dancefloor. Music was great, lights and smoke machines was great. Great selection and choice if alcohol however I did think the prices was pretty expensive. 1 can of blue hooch was priced at £5.25 which I think was pretty steep. All in all, really good night out so I'd definitely recommend!

A good bar. Great atmosphere. Will visit again when I'm in the area for sure. Next time I'm doing Kaiser Chiefs ha ha. Worth a laugh for sure. I would recommend.

Brilliant night out. It makes a nice change to hear music from other decades and the younger people really loved it. The DJ played any requests and it had a great party atmosphere. The drinks are cheap too. Will be returning on Friday nights.

Would have rated 5 if more afro beats was played apart from that great music especially on Friday nights

The barman Josh showed great enthusiasm and was willing to go the extra mile for me and my family. He proved willing and able when he served us 25 jager bombs in 5 minutes. We would definitely visit again!

One of the friendliest bars in town. Decent choice of drinks, moderately priced if slightly on the upper end of what I'm used to paying, but the environment is more than worth the extra premium. Not sure what the deal is with some reviewers saying their drinks were weak/flat - never had an issue with any of mine... As with all places sometimes there can be a few people that can't handle their drinks and are rude towards others, but they're usually removed pretty quick.
