Great cheap hotel just outside Cardiff. I appreciate they tried to put me and friends rooms together, but ended up both giving rooms not made up, no bedding etc. However this was sorted quickly, nice area to sit and have a drink in the evening. Rooms where clean and adequate for an evening.

This is a great place to stay in cardiff. It’s about a 20 minute bus journey from the center costing £2.50 as an adult for a single and £5 for a day ticket. There are multiple busses which can get you to the closest bus stop (Ipswich road, before). From the bus stop it’s roughly 10-15mins to walk to zip. Our service from checking in to even after checking out where we left two cases on site until we were ready to pick them up on the day, was phenomenal 10/10 couldn’t fault it whatsoever and this carried to multiple staff members during our stay. As of the time of our stay when we had paid for our accommodation roughly a month or just less in advance it was £25 a night. this compares to about £75 a night for both travelodges in the center where they are located next to nightclubs which a big concern reading reviews on those. The premier inns within the center were out of the question due to price so there seemed like no option. Yes this hotel (ZIP) isn’t central and sometimes isn’t ideal to lug a case on a bus to get here but if you want to experience cardiff at a cheap cost while still having a more than decent double bed, a very nice smart tv, loads of plug sockets in convenient locations, multiple mirrors, a bathroom with everything needed, the shower was a little tight but the good water pressure and water temperatures made up for it. It has everything you need in a room for one, two or even a few nights stay, and for the price you really can’t argue it. If i’m not wrong you do have to pay for extra luxuries eg, more pillows, towels etc but i had no issue with how the room came and what it came with. This was my second time staying here and it was just as good as the first time from what i remembered coming back a year and a half later leaving more than satisfied with the money spent. If you are looking to explore cardiff, come here for an event (concert, sports etc) and require a room with everything you need during a stay somewhere then i would 100% recommend ZIP. When i had checked prices closer to the dates 17-19th November, Travelodge was £210 for 2 nights and ZIP was £87. Due to a football game and multiple concerts i think prices were higher but booking a hotel even a bit in advance id assume you could probably stay at ZIP for around £25/£30 a night compared to the likes of travelodge which are usually around the £70 mark. Hopefully this review helped some looking into staying here! i tried to cover it as best i could to give insight to my experience and its comparisons. It was a lovely stay here and thank you to the staff who were so helpful and very friendly on our stay

Great place to stay for a weekend if your looking for somewhere to use as a base. Rooms are small but tidy, shower was clean and really good value if your looking for somewhere to put your head down after a busy day or a night out. Is a little out of the way but can't complain due to the value of the room.

I spent one night with a friend at Zip at the end of September 2025. We paid £26 for a twin room. The room was spotless, the facilities were nice, but the staff truly made the difference. From check-in to check-out, I felt cared for much better than in many other hotels. A special thanks to Mell for her kindness and valuable support at breakfast she really set the right mood for my day. It was unexpectedly surprising to find such kind and genuine people in a low-cost hotel.

If you think you’re booking a Premier Inn, this definitely isn’t that. Arriving gone midnight and expecting to jump into the nice familiar king size that is synonymous with a purple palace you will be supremely disappointed like we were. We didn’t book the hotel - we were travelling for business - we always stay in premier inns and the fact the business booker allows you to book this as a like for like is shocking, it is of completely different standard. If you are travelling on your own on a serious budget I can understand why this may suit, as it is so bloody cheap. However as people who travel around the country for long periods doing long work days and drives this is completely unacceptable The room was also dirty - there was dust on the walls and on the shelf above the bed, lots of scuffs and markings around the room. The hardwood floor felt unclean. All in all I had a terrible nights sleep as I hardly fit in the bed - there was only 1 pillow. And I was bouncing off the padded wall like I was in a prison cell. Definitely not the same quality of mattress. I wonder whether ZIP does the good night guarantee?? When I got up in the morning I turned on the lights and was bombarded by the lights being brighter than the sun - really unpleasant to go from absolute pitch black to bright sterile hospital style lighting in a flick - no dimmers. If work books you into this hotel I’d be telling them to book PI Cardiff North just down the road instead at a drop of the hat. I hope to never visit again

We stayed here for a night whilst travelling through to a final location in Cardiff. We were pleasantly surprised by the quaint little room we were given. Whilst compact, it had everything you needed for your stay. Large shelves and under-bed storage were perfect for keeping the floor space clear. The bathroom came with all necessary basics, and extras could be purchased cheaply from reception. A hairdryer was loaned out free of charge which was brilliant. In the morning we had a breakfast roll and drink for £3.99 - absolute bargain and really tasty! There was also free fruit to help yourself too. Only minor negatives of this stay were; the bed was rather hard and gave me a very stiff back in the morning, and the window in our room backed onto another room who’s occupants kept turning the light on and off in the early hours of the morning. Unfortunately the blind is not flush to the window, and the light shone in right over our eyes and woke us up quite a few times. Other than that, we had a great stay and would absolutely stay again! I wish there were more of these across the UK!

Stay was amazing for the price. The staff were very kind and helpful. Rooms are well designed, comfortable, not massively spacious but completely understand that for the price. The only criticism I really have is the plug placement on the headboard between the beds. It makes it hard to put certain plugs there if they have a bulky beginning after the plug head.

The room and service were okay only that there is need for improvement in the area of service. Apparently, I was assisted with microwave to warm some of my food but this was later cancelled. I would like to plead for consideration from the management to set up a kind of central place where there will be electric kettle and microwave to use as some of us as students, come from a far place like London to lodge in the hotel and we usually come with some kind of food which will be needed to warm and make some coffee too. Your consideration on this matter would be highly appreciated. Thanks

Rooms are cheap and have everything you would need in a hotel room. Room was clean and the beds were comfy. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend for a 1 night or really short term stay. I do find it odd they only give single duvets even if you ask for a double, although, I guess that's how they save money and make the hotel even cheaper.
