   I wish I’d read these reviews before I booked, the hotel rooms are nothing like the website - do not be fooled I have tried contacting the hotel a number of times and ways to complain about my terrible experience as there were no staff around when I checked out. So I’m leaving a review of my experience to warn others not to stay here. I am not a sensitive sleeper which makes me all the more disappointed to report such an unfortunate experience in this hotel. The pipes in your bathrooms. In room 11 they were so noisy and kept me awake for an hour and a half before I eventually went to find a member of staff. Of course the volume was then reduced but the member of staff told me he could still hear the pipes, and moved me to room 21, reassuring me that the plumber would come and look at another time. The bed was not made in room 21 so I had to head back to reception to get sheets and make my bed. The same member of staff was very apologetic but it’s really not good enough. The bed in room 21 was so lumpy and soft that I kept falling out whenever I turned over. If you do not believe me, I would encourage you to spend the night in that bed and check your quality of sleep. On the same floor there is a noisy toilet and every time it was used throughout the night it woke me up. Not just the toilet flushing, but the noisy pipes and then the people talking, snoring and even the bed springs of people getting into bed. Neither bedroom looked anything like the room on your website leaving me to double check my booking. I appreciate working in the world of online marketing that your best room is going to be advertised, but I could find no evidence online of the two single rooms I saw, which I believe to be false advertising. The rooms are poorly insulated and heating was off all night. Luckily I had packed a hot water bottle but I was shivering all night. There were no extra blankets available in the room The bed frame was so old and the pillows so thin that I could not sit up in bed with the pillows behind me, as they kept disappearing down the side of the bed. This made for an uncomfortable experience all round. Despite being advertised online, there were no wifi details shared anywhere in the rooms meaning I had to use my own data if I wanted to use the internet. All in all, an unfortunate experience

   We were here for just for one night and found it perfectly find for our needs as we were here for a party in the town. There was a mistake with the booking (our fault) and the man on reception was helpful and accommodating in rectifying it for us. Yes, the decor and furnishings are in need of modernisation but our room was very spacious and everything was clean. The bed was very comfy with crisp, clean bedding. The ensuite bathroom was small but clean and no issue with hot water. The hotel is perfectly situated, a couple of minutes walk to the town centre, and the train station over the road with quick easy access to Cardiff. I'd recommend the hotel if you just want somewhere comfy to sleep for a night or two and would stay here if we came to a gig in Cardiff. We didn't eat in.tne restaurant but it looked really nice and locals we spoke to said good things about it.

   The rooms were clean and comfortable. They were well cleaned and well provisioned. There was no lift which was a minor problem on the 2nd floor. The hotel outside the rooms could do with a refresh. Overall we had a pleasant stay.

   The hotel is old and very cooky. The decor is random and old fashioned. It has wonderfully narrow corridors and massively high ceilings. The hotel is far from modern but it's absolutely charming and I loved it. The staff were wonderful and the location was great. Would stay again.

   Why this hotel is lower stars is beyond me. People write it is dated! This hotel has lots off character original vintage features and really quirky decor. The beds are super comfy !!! The owner is a lovely man who has put his heart and soul in the business for 34 years! And the restaurant wow gave me a feeling I was in a court yard in Italy!!! Open brick work great ceiling decor and trees growing up the walls. Soft lighting and music was lovely. The food was just out this world, lovely chicken pate and linguine with chilli and crab meat simply delicious. If your after great food and something different then yr basic premiere inn decor go here, you won't be disappointed xxxx

   Great hotel for just 2 star rated. Very accommodating owner (who will joke with you, got me a few times!) and staff. We booked last minute and stayed with our dogs but did also have to check out early due to the heatwave and they refunded us for our last unused night, which we were very thankful for.
