The Mountain Warehouse branch itself is perfectly standard—a temple of thermal socks and slightly-too-bright waterproofs. I made the fatal error of venturing in on a Black Friday sale day, dragging my wife and two children in tow. Within 90 seconds, we established that navigating the aisles as a quad was less efficient than trying to parallel park a double-decker bus on an ice rink. My wife, a genius strategist, took the kids to a shop that prioritized fun over frostbite, and I was dispatched, the lone wolf, to the sacred Men's department upstairs. That's where the real adventure began. I was happily browsing the parkas, contemplating the merits of synthetic fill versus duck down, when I met The Watcher. This gentleman, ostensibly a member of staff, seemed to believe I was either a professional mountaineer about to attempt the summit of Everest in the changing rooms, or a high-level shoplifting threat. He positioned himself with the precision of a hawk, watching my every move. It was so intense I started to feel self-conscious about my posture. I was being observed. Finally, after he crept in to 'straighten' a coat I was looking at from a distance of two inches, I broke. I gave him the only two logical options: "Sir," I whispered, dramatically, "there are only two reasons you are giving me this much intense, close-proximity attention. One: you think I’m about to steal a £5 compass (which I'm not, I’m a reputable taxpayer). Or two: you find me utterly and irresistibly sexually magnetic." He took a tactical step back, but the damage was done. I felt like a prize piece of artisanal steak, displayed in the butcher's window, waiting to be judged for marbling and tenderness. From this day forward, I will not re-enter that branch unless I am accompanied by my wife, who will be acting as my official, fully-licensed, coat-rack-wielding personal security detail. A man should not have to face that level of scrutiny just to buy a windbreaker.

I went into the store looking for some shirts, and was surprised at how good the quality and the prices were. Ended up buying a couple shirts and a polo at a very reasonable cost. Thank you to the lovely young lady called Crystal, she was very polite and helpful in directing me where to look, wonderful service! Will shop here again soon for sure.

I was visiting the area and popped in to the shop with a jacket I had bought online 3 weeks prior. It was a small issue but the shop assistant could not have been more obliging. He checked stock and replaced the jacket immediately. Great customer service.
