I took my Greyhound boy Chas for dental assessment after getting him from a rescue who had neglected his teeth. The initial interview and subsequent treatment was very well conducted and root-canal therapy applied. Ae came home showing no sign of anaesthetic snd went straight back to his normal routine. Superb work conducted by Rachel Perry and team.
Freddie and I visited NDSR earlier this week after a referral to their Neurologist team. Callum and Eleanor were superb! Their kindness, compassion and thoroughness reassured me that everything possible was being done to investigate, diagnose and recommend appropriate palliative care for my lovely Freddie. Sadly not the news we wanted, but everything was explained and discussed and I feel more comfortable knowing what to expect in the future and to ensure Freddie continues to be happy and pain free as long as possible!
Unfortunately, both of my dogs have had to visit NDSR over the past four weeks. My dog Max was found to have an extra vertebra that was pinching his spinal cord and causing him excruciating pain after play. His surgeon, Natalie, was amazing — she stabilised his spine, and he’s now recovering really well. My other dog, Sam, became extremely unwell and lost nearly 3 kg in less than four weeks. He was assessed by the internal medicine team, who carried out extensive tests and sadly discovered an aggressive, incurable cancer in his liver. Thanks to their thorough investigation, we were able to spend valuable, comfortable time with him without the need for invasive surgery before we had to let him go. I can’t thank all the teams who cared for both of my dogs enough — they were all brilliant. This hospital is truly state-of-the-art, and the staff are exceptional. Thank you to everyone at NDSR for all your help and compassion over the past few weeks. You are all truly amazing.
After reading some of the negative comments, I’m not sure if we were just lucky or if those reviews are misleading, because we had an absolutely great experience at the clinic. Yes, it is expensive—but veterinary care often is. Considering they have the latest technology, qualified specialists, and a fully equipped in-house surgical facility, we found the pricing acceptable. At no point were we misled or surprised by hidden costs. In fact, during the initial consultation, Dr. Richard S. clearly explained both the best- and worst-case pricing scenarios. He even recommended a less expensive procedure than the one we had been referred for, as he believed it was more appropriate for our baby Mia and her condition. I honestly don’t understand how some people ended up with unexpected bills—our experience was the opposite. Both the doctors and reception staff were extremely transparent and upfront throughout the process. Mia was cared for with real compassion. She’s a very nervous girl, but Dr. Richard handled her with a calm and gentle approach. I highly recommend this referral clinic.
Basically managed to mess up at every stage. During initial appointment agreed to CT scan - advised multiple different conclusions to this and no clear idea on what it actually showed. Advised to contact for emergency appointment if our pet went down hill. No appointments and to contact via email which might be answered in 24 hours. Lost our paperwork multiple times. After 3 months realised they had marked a bill as paid when it wasn't which we were unaware of (had already had an insurance claim though which we believed had paid everything off). No compassion after then billing us when we had directly discussed our insurance limitations prior with the vet and being honest about this. The manager kept trying to blame us for their mistake (even had sent the bill where they had marked paid in error).Eventually partially resolved through the vet mediation service. After all this diagnosis and treatment was managed via a non specialist vet after telling us one day our pet was palliative and couldn't be treated. From our perspective once we neared the top of our insurance limit they didn't care.
North Downs was a referral, admittedly, when I received a call from the receptionist, they where pleasant but very businesses minded. So I had my concerns if they would be systematic to my dogs needs. But a have to say once I had attended my appointment I met a wonderful caring understanding vet called Sofia Ramos. I have been blessed to be dealing with her, she has taken me through all the stages in great detail, my Wally loved her which I have to say he goes to no one most times. And she calls for updates.she has gone above and beyond I would have absolute no hesitations at all to recommend. She is a credit to North Downs
Very nice people, very kind and attentive to Pasha. His first time as blood donor, was calm through all the procedures. Wonderful atmosphere whole experience good. Hope more dogs over 25kl are taken to help the bank.
Received excellent service at NDSR. Very knowledgeable, attentive and kind staff. They showed a great deal of care when looking after my lovely dog, kept in constant contact and fixed him right up. Very thankful to Rachel Perry and her whole team.
This place is second to none. The Great Dr Rodolfo is an amazingly beautiful talented man - as are Maria, Hannah, Daniella, Dan, Becky, to name just a few I remember and am aware of - thank you all.
